I recently purchased a refurbished PS2 (old one was REALLY loud) and I could not access POL. So then I called a million places, and finally EB told me that I can 'download it off the internet and burn it to a CD'. I really need to get a hold of this HDD Utility Disc (the stuff on the disc) to format my HDD. Can anyone help me out?

I don't remember there being a utility that came with my HDD. Just the FFXI/Tetra Master software. Maybe the guy thinks it's on there, or this is just something I've never heard of.Odude

is there any type of dos mode on the HDD if so then you may be able to format it using some programing codeComment

No, all of them said that a Utility disc is supposed to come with the HDD (And Sony DOES NOT sell the seperately, what a bunch of dumbasses). They all said that each PS2 has a unique ID and since I installed FFXI on my old PS2 that it only recognized that ID and I'd have to format the drive. How stupid is that? It sounds like when somebody was designing the game for PS2/HDD they were a little high.
It beyond pisses me off. Instead of accomdating the damn customer they expect me to go and shell another $80 - 100 on a new HDD. WTF?Comment

ye that seem totally screwed, but dont really know much about the ps2's as im on a pc and have to reformat every month cause of my sis and i tell ya your probably better off with the ps2 and all the problems the hdd causesComment

I'd play on PC if I had a better GFX card, but I enjoy playing on PS2 more (we have two computers and my dad is usually on one and my sister bitches to my parents about me being on all the time so they will kick me off). But, yeah, I just moved to Texas and I'm gonna dig through everything and see if I can find this utility disc. Hell, I can't even find my FFXI discs or my strategy guide. I put them on the floor on the side of my bed the other day (discs in the case, of course) and it just disappeared. :confused:Comment
