Comcast, Ethernet, and the PS2

I have Comcast Highspeed Internet nowadays, I decided to return to FFXI again. Now, I've everything else going. I've been trying to connect to POL all night long, but it keeps saying DNS-server is busy and I've followed the instructions straight to the letter. I need some help.

I have tried other things too and I have also recieved "DNS Server Busy"-error messages...

Ok...In order to help you I need to know a few things: Is your PS2 connectied directly to the modem, or is there a network of other computers? Are you trying to use a wireless connection? I have Comcast and a Wireless internet connection, and it works fine for me. Do you have the PS2's settings for the network adapter set to automaticaly recieve the DNS numbers?

I'm on Comcrap myself, and use my PS2 with a router so I can have my PC and PS2 online at the same time. I occasionally have issues connecting, but I just try again and get it on the second... maybe third time. If it doesn't connect after the third time I just reset my router. Also, I've found that DMZ'ing the PS2 helps if you're having issues, but only as a last resort.

If you're unplugging it straight form your pc and putting it into your PS2 you will have to unplug your Broadband modem and plug it back in (or reset/turn it off and back on), so you can register the mac address of the PS2 onto the modem. If you are using a router it should work fine, although recently Comcast has been giving me problems with Xbox live for some strange reason that's beyond my control =\.
