Playonline freezes up!

Hi all.

So my friend just got all my EU version CD's that I've never used since I just keept using the US version I bought first.

He has installed it in this order:
Playonline CD
3x FFXI CD's
1x Zilart
2x COP cd's

Now when he tries to start up playonline - he gets the first screen where it says that playonline is starting but then nothing happens - it never goes further into playonline from here. After a couple of mins he can close the program as non-responing i think.

He's tryed to re-install everything, re-install his Graphic drivers and re-install DirectX. None of these 3 things has solved the problem.

He has a brand new computer bought 1 month ago with a 2MB DSL connection.

Anyone have any ideas how to solve this problem?!?

More detail about the computer seems to be needed. Like what type of graphics card? Type of RAM? etc...

Some ATI type cards do not work with games developed for nVidia chips unless you reduce their graphics acceleration settings. Also the same some types of RAM will not work well to run this game.

Sapphire Radeon 9600 Atlantis with 128MB ram.
1GB Ram on the machine

When I said RAM I ment what type it is not size.

The Radeon though looks like it could be something to try. Go to your graphics settings and try reducing the Graphic Acceleration from Full and reduce it a few ticks and see.
