  • JP/EN Zilart Installation Error

    Hallo all! \(^_^)

I have finally purchased, received, and installed the Japanese version of Final Fantasy XI on my computer. \(^.^)/ The Japanese version is great (more features and all ), yet I wish to still resort to the English version for Missions and such, for my Japanese Language proficiency is not high at all. So...first, a quick history:

    Installed JP POL, FFXI, Zilart
    Registered POL
    Updated POL
    Installed EN POL
    Updated EN POL
    Registered FFXI and Zilart
Updated JP FFXI (soooo long ><)
Played JP FFXI (finally!) [no problems here]
Changed EN Install and Interface key (using regedit) to copy that in the JP key directory
Played EN FFXI (aah...comfortable) < This is where that small error (later discussed) occured
Copied the /whole/ JP FFXI folder and pasted it in the EN folder
Changed EN Install and Interface keys to point to new location
Played EN FFXI (again, that error)
    Deleted the EN FFXI folder
Changed EN keys to JP directory

And so now here I am... That error I kept running into occured after it logged into the lobby server (i.e. after the first question after the intro movie) and states "Please be sure to install and register FINAL FANTASY XI: Rise of Zilart. You may experience problems if the expansion pack is not properly installed and registered." This is folled by another popup saying "Expansion pack data has not been installed. You cannot enter areas that require the expansion pack data." These errors occur only in the English version and not in the Japanese version. This is of no major concern right now for me (in the low levels) but I will really like to expell this error should I attain Zilart areas.

Another (slight) complication is that I wish to have only one copy of FFXI on my computer (to greatly save space). This may be optional, yet more on the recommended side for me. Yet, I suppose another possiblity would be to install the EN Final Fantasy and expansion using the EN CDs and all...yet this will be (a) time-consuming, and especially (b) space-consuming. This laptop only has 60 GB and I use a lot.

Any guidences, directions, and/or recommendations to get my system to pristene order are welcome.

    Thank you for your time,
    Jimmy G.

Alas, the mere uninstalling US POL and installing and patching US POL did not fix the error...

Has any other user having put both US and JP POL and only one version of FFXI experiecing (pref: had experienced) a similar error of the other language POL says that the expansion is not installed?

      Thank you for your time,
      Jimmy G.

P.S. StarvingArtist: I /may/ just end up installing both on this computer, but shall see if there is a way around it. ^^

I just had to reintall FFXI...and I installed JP POL/FFXI updated both (non Zilaart/ CoP). Then I installed EN Pol/FFXI/RoZ/CoP in a seprate folder. (btw I registered CoP/RoZ via JP POL) Thats what I did anyway...and I didnt change Registy Codes or anything..

Edit: example: I had JP in Playonline (its default) and En in "NA Playonline"

No need to tweak the registry as the JP version places its keys in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\PlayOnline and the NA version puts its keys in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\PlayOnlineUS. Just install both copies to your %Program Files%\\PlayOnline directory as usual and it will place the NA version in DRIVE:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SquareEnix and the JP version will go into DRIVE:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SQUARE

There is no need to uninstall anything, and there is no need to make any registry ajustments. Even when installing Promathia as long as you install Promathia JP seperately from Promathia NA.

              Goodluck.
