There are 2 versions of this board, the LS45MG3 and the LS45MG3/GX+. Just click on the one you have (I'm guessing the LS45MG3) and it will take you to the motherboard's page (@Elitegroup's site), you can download the drivers from there.

It seems to me that the AGP driver is the one that's giving you prblems, but depending on what other on-board functions you are using you might need to download the IDE, VGA, LAN and Sound drivers as well.

Re: Video Card and Screen Problems thread.

Sorry about the delay, are you using the onboard sound or sound card?

There's always the chance of having to enable or disable on-board features through the BIOS in order to prevent hardware conflicts.

Edit > Also check your DirectX settings to see if the proper sound card is being displayed.

And about your video card, even with the motherboard drivers installed you'll need your ATI drivers for it to work properly.

Ok.. Im having a problem playin, the game freezes on me. I have an Nvidia Evga 8800 GTS with 320MB DDR3, SE says the vid card isn't compatable with the game but I find that hard to believe its one of the newest cards on the market.. Does anyone know anything about this, here is some system info

Re: Video Card and Screen Problems thread.

Its easy to beleive if its one of the enwest cards on teh amrket, FFXI is 5 years old i.e. old technology, the enw directx 10 cards have had many teething problems with teh game due to teh dx10. In a few days an update is launched for FFXI with the enw expansion that upgrades the whole game architecture up to DX9 from DX(7 or 8 can;t remeber which) therefore these teethign problems should be reduced and you may find you see better results, note the MAY. Also it says you have 287mb free memory, thats not good on your main system, you have vista a memory hogging OS, you need more memory to make things run smoother.

Alright, I'll wait for the update/expansion.. I know that I need more system memory but it should be far more than the game needs to run. I actually have the max amount of memory that my mobo will allow, its definately time for an upgrade. Thanks for the reply.

                    Windows XP
                    NVIDIA 7600 GT (256MB)
                    3 gigs of RAM
                    2.4 gHz processor

30 frames per second in MH
                    18-20 in Bastok
                    6-12 in Whitegate
                    4-7 Whitegate AH

I really need some way of taking some pressure of the CPU. Does anyone else with this card have any suggestions? I can't stand the fact that my friend with average specs plays the game beautifully, but my cursor lags 3 seconds behind my button presses and my framerate is 5 FPS when I want to do the awesome things like campaign. I'm really open to any tweaks to my system that will help alleviate the CPU.

I'm also running onboard sound, which I heard could be pulling some CPU power. It's just really discouraging.

                    Thanks.

Re: Video Card and Screen Problems thread.

I seem to have the black screen problem as well.

I have an ATI Radeon X1270 with an Aprox Total Memory of 894MB on it.

Any solutions to the problem? Maybe I need to download and install the newest version of DirectX?

I too am running on a laptop. A Dell.....maybe not the best.

It worked perfectly for a long time on this machine, but just started doing the black screen thing yesterday. Any idea what the problem could be?

                          LOL this thread is old.

Anyways a black screen can really mean any number of things. It could be a power issue, a memory issue, a Graphics card issue, a motherboard issue or a CPU issue.

My screen went black on my PC and thats the route of checking to find the problem. I gave up when I got to the mobo and CPU to check and figure it was time to build a new one.

My experiences with this card have been quite good all around, so I'm not sure what to make of this. I would suggest you make sure you don't have something running in the background that might be interfering (the official bittorrent client was the culprit in some recent intermittent problems I encountered, so I've tossed it). Aside from that, there are some recent beta forceware drivers which are said to improve performance in FFXI. I haven't noticed any significant difference from the drivers that shipped with my card, but then I've been getting 29fps pretty consistently almost anywhere.

Honestly, I've used this on a Radeon 8500 on a 1.3GHz system and didn't have results anywhere near that bad, so it's not a question of your specs being anywhere close to insufficient. I'd look for other programs causing a problem.

I hate for this to be my first post here, but I need help!

I recently installed FFXI, fixed my resolution (1280x1024) and background resolution (2048x2048), used a 3rd Party Config tool to fix up all the other graphical bits, but I can't shake this graphical error!

It only happens whenever I move my camera in game, and there is a blocky outline that highlights moving characters and objects as well..

                              Here's some examples:

                              Took while moving the camera:

Hey, I'm an oldish player looking to return after being away from Vana'diel for quite sometime.

I recently bought FFXI 2008 edition for my new PC (New as of December 2007.)

                                Here are my specs -

According to the POL System information program.

As for the problem - The game is laggy to the extent of being unplayable. Not the network connection, because that's fine (As in all the other players are moving in real time with no lag there), it's the actual client that lags.
Now this happens in POV too, but only after the version check of POV starts, which had led me to believe that when the game tries to utilise the internet (which happens as soon as the version check starts), the problem starts.

As for things I've attempted -

Installed POV, FFXI, and four expansions from the disc.
                                Updated all that lot.
                                Problem started.
Uninstalled POV, Installed the Vista specific version (for the UK)
Uninstalled everything, updated my NVIDIA drivers
Reinstalled using the Vista specific POV, and only reinstalled FFXI to save time.
Uninstalled my sound drivers, reinstalled with the latest (Although I believe I already had the latest.)
Tried messing about with my card settings, going for performance > quality. Also turned antialiasing off.
Turned Norton 360 firewall off, turned my BT router firewall off.
Tried running FFXI as the only app, with all background apps turned off (Although the problem really doesn't seem to be RAM or system resources.)

I've been given a suggestion to update my BIOS, but that scares me, I'm not that confident.

I use a wired network to connect to the Internet - The router has a wire connecting it to my PC, a wire connecting it to the phone line, and the plug wire.

I've also played WoW for some time now, completely trouble free, as well as games like Portal.
(And don't let that make you think i'm a newb, hah, FFXI is really just the better game.)

Does anybody have any suggestions that might get me back into my Warlock's Chapeau? I miss my Red Mage so much.

Thanks for your time, please ask if you need any more information.
