  • BST Jug pets

Why is it that after Lv65, the only descently affordable jug pet is Carrie?

I think it's unfair that BSTs:
    a) are forced to use sub-par pets when in most end-game areas are fill with uncharmable pets
    b) Descent attack pets cost an arm and a leg just to keep out.

Not only do we have to pay a ton of gil to get our pets out, they deal less damage than a SMN's avatar, and they despawn (compairing because they're both "hate free damage")!

CoP jugs are the better than average attack jugs but the items needed to craft them are rare as hell and would be used to make other more profitible items than hoping to HQ the jugs. Hell, Sun Water is 500k/each and is only out for maxium 10min!

I personally suggest SE should change the recipie to make them easier to craft or uncap more NQ jugs for end game, such as FungarFamilar.

    Re: BST Jug pets

Yeah, fat load of good Beast Affinity did >.<

SE seems to ignore the hoards of people asking for affordable uncapped endgame DD jugs and gives us useless merits instead (Feral Howl).

Best thing to do is find a RNG or NIN complaining about how much they spend on arrows/shihie, then tell them how it would cost you upwards of 2m per hour to DD to the fullest of your ability, and watch them O.O

      Re: BST Jug pets

Well, I'm not a BST (or very low level, at least), but I agree with this. Both the ingredient rarity and the crafting skill requirements for some jug pets seem excessive. Many pets (even some HQs) are usable for only 12 levels before they cap out. Why so small a range?
Siravarde, Como and Orob are actually *easier* to HQ than Carrie is; they'd be a great addition to high level BST's arsenal, if they were just allowed to go up to 75. Alternatively, if the skill requirements for Antica, Blood, Mole and Grasshopper broths weren't so high, there might be more of those HQs on the market. Either solution is fine, but "you can have a crab, a beetle, a mandy or spend 500k" isn't. Some kind of attack-oriented pet should be available at a reasonable price.
High level characters of other jobs have other options for obtaining weapons, including conquest points, BCNMs and even some quests (many BLUs use Ifrit's Blade, for example). Why don't BST have any alternative to crafting or buying from another crafter to obtain their "weapon"? Some jugs do drop, but only ones with low level caps - I think there's a 40 cap jug that drops in Boyahda. What's the point of that?

On top of that, I'd like to see jug pet timers be standardized at 30 min for NQ, an hour for HQ (and some non-HQables like sun water and alchemist water) and the jug pet should follow the BST through zones/teleport/escape like a wyvern. Jugs are (at least potentially) a constant supply for BSTs, like food is for everyone (including BSTs). They should be designed along similar lines.
Nobody is forced to use HQ food - the differences between NQ and HQ foods are deliberately small, except for duration. HQ ninja tools and ammo don't even exist - it just increases the yield - so a level 75 ninja can still use shihei made by a skill 30 crafter. Why throw these decisions (and the reasoning behind them) out the window for jug pets? It's one thing for a high level weapon - that you buy once - to require craft skill 90+ and 500k of ingredients. It's another to have the same requirements for a consumable item that lasts an hour (or less!).

I think increasing the usable level range of many jug pets and making more of them available to 75 would not only give BST more options in many situations, but also possibly reduce its dependence on charm, which causes many problems. Increasing jug pet durations (especially for the CoP jugs) would make the few ingredients that are available to make those jugs go farther, making them available to more BSTs and something that could be used in an everyday exp/merit situation.
Please don't simply introduce more new jugs with different properties and leave the problems with the old ones unaddressed. An across-the-board adjustment would give more options in more circumstances and not create an unbalanced demand for only the new jugs at the expense of existing ones. New jugs would be neat, yes, but fix the old ones too.
