Any chance to make latent effect easier to view?

Re: Any chance to make latent effect easier to view?

It's not like he's asking for your best weapon to be highlighted in the auctionhouse lists, he just wants to know if his weapon is working or not. If that kind of mystery is so important to the game, then why don't we take out the status icons to show you what buffs and debuffs you have, or the tooltips that tell you what your abilities do? That way people can have even more "fun" figuring out what things do and whether their spells and abilities are working or not.

Re: Any chance to make latent effect easier to view?

I'm not so much interested in knowing when the latent is broken; most times, you can see the spike in damage. I'm more interested in finding an easier method of determining what breaks or activates a latent effect.

And I'm sick of low HP/MP/status effect activated latent effects. No reason I should have to put myself in jeapordy to increase the power of a weapon.

Re: Any chance to make latent effect easier to view?

        Well, here's the thing:

Take the Lv30 earrings. Magician's Earring: "Latent Effect: MP+30" When I equip the item, I can physically see my max MP go up by 30 points. Beater's Earring: "Latent Effect: Ranged Accuracy+3." How are you supposed to be able to tell if it's working, then? We, as a playerbase, know how to activate them, yes. They are nearly identical pieces of gear. The only difference being one I can physically see affect me, and the other I cannot. Why does the latter need to "remain a mystery" when compared to the former?

Nowhere did I say "put what activates the latent in the description." That part can still be the mystery. Honestly, even with a colored description it can still remain a mystery. "OMG my latent is working! How the hell did I do that?!" I just don't see why latent effects that affect "hidden" stats (such as accuracy, crit rate, etc) need to be made so difficult to tell when they're working when compared to items that affect a visable stat.

ehehe it sounds like a great idea, but SE would probably never do it :x, as someone said above, they never make stuff easier for us

Re: Any chance to make latent effect easier to view?

Actually, S-E consistently makes things easier for us. The fact remains that this changes none of the dynamics of the game. It's just a nice way for S-E to answer one simple question: Has the bonus on this weapon kicked in or not?

Of course, by extension if latents change color, so should other conditional bonuses such as in area (not) under nation control bonuses.

Now if somebody were to say they wanted an /echo to pop up telling them when the latent starts or stops, then I would definitely agree we're asking for too much.

Re: Any chance to make latent effect easier to view?

SE could do this in a round-about way by adding things to the latent effects like +resists and +HP/MP, just like the Trial Weapons.

Re: Any chance to make latent effect easier to view?

With the trial weapons, once the latent is gone it's gone for good and won't come back. With just about EVERY other latent item they'll work sometimes and not others, depending on the circumstances.

There is no reason to not put this in, if there was before it's gone now. Many times I do see players with latent items, things that would easy to see the effects of (Pld/War wearing a Wrestler's earring ftl)without even thinking if they work or not. This might help clear up what is and is not good to use for people who aren't in the know.

I don't agree on actually showing (writing out) the latent effect and what it does, it is suppose to be hidden. However, I think that once you do activate, however you do it, you should get some sort of signal or animation, or sound(i don't know what that would exactly be, but i'll let SE be the judge).
