Re: SE, you must end this Bio-Dia holy war.

    Yes, I should probably let things go more. I'd have lower blood pressure for a start. *thumbs-up* I'm still waiting for the leader of last night's escapade (a decent Galka whm, did well for us) to log back on so I can apologize for my 50% of the ruckus. ._.;

    Thanks for the support. ^^

What if its just a bug that causes it to only display one of the "wear off" message?

      /em ducks the incoming eggs...

That would be a really strange bug, especially because it only shows Bio wearing off always with bio and dia, Dia2 wearing off with dia2 and bio, and bio2 with bio2 and dia2. Why would it always show the same ones, especially if you cast dia then bio, and then bio then dia. Both show bio wearing off.

In any case, check out the link that she posted here: http://derekloffin.anifics.com/DiaBio/diabio.html . It addresses your question and does a second test, which you can't test in a party normally because it's hard to find a mob that has the perfect setup for it.

Re: SE, you must end this Bio-Dia holy war.

Ellipses asked this question in the Original Thread (Any questions for SE?)

Below is how i replyed there. Basically never expect a straight answer from SE regarding game mechanics.

I know the answer, I just wanna have an official URL I can macro into party chat from now on.

Of course this would only feed fuel to the fire. N00Bs will read that as "OMG SE said they was gonna make Dia and Bio stack".
Then one of them says " They already made it happen in the December update"
          "OMG did they!"
Then when you come to argue with them again they are all like "No it is true, Dia and Bio do stack"

Then just to spite you and because they were all enigmatic about it SE decides to really mess you up and make it so they do.

Then none of the N00bs will belive you any more (that they do now stack), and the RDM will only cast one of them dispite your continued protestations that now they do stack and they should be useing both.

I'd love to see this settled once and for all, too. And I try not to be cynical about the outcome.

The problem with that Altered Destinies page is that it's old, and not updated with every single patch. Remember, Dia and Bio stacking is always fixed two updates ago.

There is no rush. If you're not willing to take your time, don't be surprised when no one wants to give you much of theirs.

Re: SE, you must end this Bio-Dia holy war.

I have an idea, why dosn't SE just change the messages like the Elemental Enfeebles?

              With Dia/Bio:

              xxxx casts Dia on zzzz.
              yyyy casts Bio on zzzz.
              xxxx casts Dia on zzzz.
              Some time later...
              zzzz's Bio effect wears off.

              With Ele. Enfeebles:
              xxxx casts Shock on zzzz.
              yyyy casts Rasp on zzzz
              zzz's Shock effect wears off.
              xxxx casts Shock on zzzz.
xxxx's Shock has no effect on zzzz.
              Some time later...
              zzzz's Rasp effect wears off.

              Is it that hard?

Which is exactly why I suggested a bug... though I was also being a smart ass.

Or how about SE makes it so we can see what debuffs/buffs a mob has? I'ts mind boggling that we have to use the chat log to keep track of people's and mobs' buffs/debuffs.

Re: SE, you must end this Bio-Dia holy war.

                    If (and it's a big, fat, capital IF) they ever did come out months or even years from now and say "Ooops! It *was* a bug after all. Sorry. LAWL!" then I would shake with fear over the demented sense of priority SE uses in deciding which bugs to fix. I read somewhere that you used to be able to climb lamp posts in Al Zahbi or something? And they fixed it? But they wouldn't fix a bug having to do with battle mechanics? That'd be sicky-twisty. Oo;

*vaguely wonders where the smilies went from the post editing page, because that crazy-twiddling-finger (o_O) one would've been perfect*

Debuffs that you've cast I could see being shown on a mob somehow, since that just duplicates chat log behavior in a less annoying fashion. Debuffs someone else has cast, iffy. Seeing buffs on a mob would be broken; not knowing whether any given yagudo is going to stroll into camp with Protect, Shell, Warcry, etc., and how much Dispelling it'll need, is part of the challenge.

Well yes, only buffs/debuffs that the players cast should appear on the mob. Perhaps a new scan spell that reveals all buffs could be added. It would be the same as the WoW mage spell, Detect Magic.
