    Re: Consider Same-Sex Marriage

    This idea is silly.

But then again, I couldn't care less about a lot of silly things.

      Exactly!

The idea of running around a make-believe world as a 3 foot tall biped with big ears that can throw around lightning bolts, or as a cat girl, or as a knight in shiny white armor that can magically cure themselves or teamates is silly.

We're all playing with dolls in a make-believe world. The whole game is about being silly.

SE ot allowing two cartoons to engage in a faux ceremony because they happen to be rendered to be the same sex is dragging in the real world where it has no place.

Same can be said in the opposition of that and allowing same sex. Dolls is a close comparison but it's still playing a role, some of the rules to the role you have control of to make and some you don't.

          Re: Consider Same-Sex Marriage

Last I checked it was Promathia and Altana, not Promathia and Altanus.

That was probably distasteful, but had to be said anyways. I'm all for same-sex marraiges in real life, but totally against the drama they cause. This is just a video game and suffers from enough player caused drama as it is.

          It's a video game people!

I disagree. The whole game is about being fun.

Actually, my point was, people who want same-sex marriage in a game where marriage is essentially meaningless, are silly.

So the way your logic states, people whoe want gil in a game where gil is essentially meaningless, are silly as well? The same could be said for armor, and experiance.

Actually if the Shopee is pointing it to his statement then no your analysis is wrong.

See in real life marriage marks a monogomy (How true it is though depends on the couple). In the game marriage is simply to play a role, its only function is to assist with creating a fantasy.

In the game though gil is still needed for purchasing gear and such to advance the character to achieve a goal. That stuff has a form and function, moogle events and marriages generaly don't have a meaning they are there just as fun trinkets to create opporunities for role-playing.

Ah but gil is not essentially meaningless.

Gil is used to further playing the game. Its purpose is inherent within the system of the game, just like Hit Points, Magic Points or spells. It helps you further advance, accomplish things, purchase items etcetera.

Macht has pretty much made my point for me though.

Usually you go to the state, considering you'd want to be married in a legal sense.

                      Yeah, pretty crazy, huh?

Don't know if you were joking or serious here. If Joking that wasn't a good one.

For Nappy to marry in the game it requires a 3rd person. The 3rd person is essentially going to be like the wedding planner, the arbitrator.

Under the POL area he would register the two that are to marry and provide a set of dates and times. If lucky one of them will take, can't remember the specifics but I think he setups the location of the wedding and other aspects to it too.

The 3rd person has to be present on the wedding date and time along with the two marrying and whatever guests. If I recall the GM also does a practice run the day before or sometime before, gives you the stuff he'll recommend to Macro to speed up the process.

IMO, if you're an advocate for Same-sex Marriage, there is much more you can be doing for the matter. It just doesn't make sense to want it in a game where you really accomplish nothing. When this game is over and done with, people won't have accomplished ANYTHING, except for maybe have made a few memories.

Marriage isn't something to be tooled around with either, people need to realize this. I was kind of mad they put it in this game. :/

Of course! But the rules are arbitrary and fluid.

(which really adds credence to the previous point made that either way marriage in game ends up being a political statement -- kinda makes one wonder why SE even bothered with it).

SE is looking for ways to change the rules of the game to make it more engaging by soliciting the playerbase for questions.

My conceit is, from a RPG design point of view, it seems far more compelling to allow players to act out the character role they've assumed in the game in a manner they see fit -- wether their role matches their real life is immaterial.

This question about allowing same sex marriages seems perfectly valid. As something that has no impact on the progression of the game itself, having an arbitrary restriction on which cartoons may be pretend-married in a fantasy world seems --- out of place.

Not to mention, I bet the changes to the code base would trivial...

This is the gayest thread I've ever seen.

On a serious note, I'm pretty sure homosexuality is even more taboo in Japan then it is in the U.S. The odds of this happening are nil.
