  • What is the development cycle for patches and how much testing do they receive?

Recent patches, while helping with one of the game's biggest problems (MPK), have created a multitude of other problems.

The patch that made monsters despawn once they are out of their normal wandering range and have lost aggro has drastically changed the Beastmaster job, and made long pulls frustrating and difficult. It was clear from GM responses during the first few days of this patch that either these effects were not intended, or anticipated.

The new claiming system has some very strange and unpredictable results. There are many, many situations in which initial claim takes multiple actions to resolve. And the patch still does not address a party sleeping a link, only to have a low-hate damage-over-time spell cast on it by an outside player (thus MPKing the party that slept the monster). While some aspects of this patch seem to function as expected, the instances where it functions differently seem rather random and hard to pin down.

There was also a patch several months ago that made the text on the PS2 version exceptionally bright. This was rolled back in the very next patch.

What is the development cycle for patches and how much testing do they receive? Are any of the recent MPK/claim/etc. patches under consideration for rolling back or changing?

There is no rush. If you're not willing to take your time, don't be surprised when no one wants to give you much of theirs.
