I managed to get through CoP by playing on Friday night/Saturday morning at 1am till 7am on most occasions. As for Sky, I tried running with an NA shell on Euro time but they broke shortly after I joined to focus on Limbus and Sky on a more NA friendly timezone. I did join an HK Sky shell for a time and despite being present at months of farming and attending all events I could due to work I continually ended up watching the same select group of Chinese players get the loot over NA and Euro players. I won't bite my lip and fatten the coffers of the few off the backs of the many.

So, really, when I talk about making a regionally acknowledged server it's so people with similar targets as me don't have to go through the same frustration that leads them to quit. While some people are happy levelling permanently and watching others constantly enjoy the full range of activities in the game my goal has always been to immerse myself as much as I can in content. I wanted to do Sky, Dynamis, HNMs. Limbus, etc but I was continually denied this due to issues outside of my ability to control. I could stay up till 7am once a week for the chance to go along to a Dynamis, problem there being they did the city runs on weekdays and only Beaucedine and Xarc on weekends. Assuming I could remain awake do you honestly think that's a reasonable requirement to play a game?
    This is all too familiar.

Well, I'd agree that it not a reasonable requirement to play the game, but then again, very little is actually required in this game. Each individual has an idea of what they want to accomplish, and they have to decide if the sacrifices they make to their schedule and whatnot are worth that. You don't have to do Dynamis. You don't have to do HNMs. You don't have to participate in Assault or Besiged, or Ballista, or anything else that you don't want to.

The problem is that most do want to take part in these activities and it's incredibly difficult for Europeans because of the lack of players to team up with.

Oh, I totally agree. But they shouldn't be listed as "requirements" to play the game.

Where did I say they were requirements? Or anyone else in this thread for that matter. I just want to be able to play the game and enjoy the content available during my timezone in the same way NA and JPs are able to.

Here. No one was making you stay up at crazy hours except yourself.

Once again, I get why you think this is a great idea. But just because you want to experience everything that endgame has to offer doesn't mean that it's something you (or anyone else) should have to do. That's where the choice factor comes in.

I agree with Aelithir (Dammit, Murphie, I'm sorry >.< ) Anyway, I also have a peculiar situation in which no NA shell would run Dynamis or Sky on my time zone where I'm bordering between JP and NA prime time. Either it's too late for most NAs (Especially CST and EST players of which there seems to be an overabundance of on my server) or it's too early for most JP/Kor players (I mean, some of them are still putting OT at their respective professions)

Traditionally, these events require a tremendous amount of time to get involved in. 4-5 hours is a long time commitment and it was then I decided that I won't do so.

Lower scaled things, like camping an HNM of a ToD skewing more my way is generally something I can do on a casual basis. So things like getting a Joy Toy eventually for my RDM is not impossible over the next 6 months or so.

                  Re: Euro Acknowledged Server

Ah, I see. So what would be the alternative for someone wanting to participate in the content the game has to offer whilst not having the 2-4k population available to the NA and JP playerbase? Let me guess, if I want to see that content it's my choice to stay awake till 7am otherwise I can just level.

Seriously, unless you have anything intelligent to add to the discussion other than being argumentative please find another thread to bump your post count on.

                      Re: Euro Acknowledged Server

Thing is, most of the Euros I've known over the years have quit for this same reason. Now, there's going to be an influx of French and German players supposedly but it will still be a drop in the ocean compared to NA and JP numbers. If these new players could see which servers have a decent Euro population then there is a better chance they'll find their time on FFXI to be enjoyable and not frustrating. Happy subscribers are paying subscribers. FFXI has lost 150k subscribers over the last year, they really need to try and retain what they have as well as hold the interest of new players.

The proposal doesn't affect existing players unless S-E offers a transfer window, however, it will benefit new players.

                        Re: Euro Acknowledged Server

The problem (as has been mentioned several times, I think) is that it will cause a lot of problems with existing players even if it doesn't affect them directly. Unless you are going to have JP or NA preferred servers alongside the EU preferred, it's going to cause more problems than it solves.

Do I think it's a good (perhaps even great) idea? Yes. Do I think it will be implemented? Not likely, unfortunately. SE just can't seem to look past their idea of a global community.

On another note: What exactly is your problem with my post count? You mention it a lot. If you have such a problem with me, then I'd advise you to 1.) Put me on your Ignore List or 2.) Shut it. Because you don't get to decide how often I post here.

Not everyone gets to experience endgame. That's a fact. Either they commit the large amounts of time necessary, or they don't. It's up to them. You are not guaranteed end game fun times. Stop acting like you are owed it.

That may be the case, however, I'd like to see the question asked and give S-E the opportunity to reply to it in their own elusive way. If anything it will bring the subject to their attention and so far it's the only question I've ever seen asked by the European playerbase.

I honestly think you have a problem, an addiction even. Anyone who can amass 2.5k posts in a month and a few days has a serious addictive disorder. I envy you the social life and career than enables you to have the free time to post continually on these forums. However, that isn't what bothers me. It's the fact you reply to almost every single post on these boards and most of the time seem to either adopt the voice of the morally righteous or decide to play Devil's advocate for no other reason than to be argumentative. Not only that, you seem somewhere down the line to have mixed these forums up with MSN or Yahoo feeling that everytime someone says something new on a thread you have to post again. I could find numerous threads you've posted eight or nine times on. Occasionally, when I read a thread I actually like to read other people's opinions without being subjected to the world according to Aelthir.

Now, while you may feel your opinion on the Euro playerbase is 100% correct and pertinent I feel until you've been in my situation, and that of many other European players past and present, then you can't comment objectively. And, had you any ounce of understanding you wouldn't make such crass and inflammatory remarks along the lines of, "No one was making you stay up at crazy hours except yourself."

I have the time. I don't have the playerbase. Really, do you lack reading comprehension or are you really trying to be obtuse and frictional?
