    Re: Any questions for SE?

WHM gets the job specific, multi-hit, Hexa Strikes. I don't wanna hear it. As it is, there's a reason BLM are allowed Scythes, WHM has the skill and availability to melee with clubs, BLM has B- in staves, but I don't know the availability of staff skills to them. Moreover, Scythe actually FITS a BLM or DRK, when you see either job using it, it seems in character. There is nothing in character about a WHM using a scythe.

Probably has something to do with the fact that:
A- They aren't so special that their opinions are any more important then mine
B- They don't want a better game, they want a better game for themselves.

Like an event/quested one? Like the wooden/lotus katanas and pitchforks?
Has there ever been an event Scythe? If there was, yes even whm could equip it. Event items are All Jobs.

        Re: Any questions for SE?

FFXI's skillchain system is one of the most unique aspects of the game. At first glance, it looks like a great equalizer, forcing PTs to choose a variety of jobs in order to form the best skillchains. Yet, at higher levels, skillchaining isn't nearly as effective as having many of the same powerful class, such as mnk and war. Are there any plans to adjust the skillchain system in order to restore this unique style of gameplay?

In connection to the first question, I believe that one reason skillchains aren't used anymore is because at level 75, there are rarely any IT mobs that warrant their use. Because exp mobs at level 75 have so little evasion and defense, mobs can be quickly killed without a skillchain. Contrast this to the lower levels, where skillchains are nearly essential in killing an IT+++ quickly. Are there any plans to put in areas that feature IT+++ mobs at level 75?

I think one of the most fundamental problems with FFXI is overcrowding. At times, it feels like the competition for exp and NM camps is ridiculous. Getting basic items such as a Moldavite Earring or an Empress Hairpin isn't a question of skill or level, it's merely a matter of whether or not you can beat the 6 other players to the claim. Are there any plans for server migrations to reduce the overcrowding?

The addition of Assault battles was a very nice concept because it allows players to earn some equipment without mindlessly "camping" an NM for hours on end. Yet unfortunately, many of the key items such as Ochiudo's Kote, Moldavite Earring, and Strider's Boots have no comparable alternatives, meaning in order to get the best equipment, a player has no choice but to compete with others, simply sitting around waiting for a monster to spawn. Are there plans to make superior, or even slightly inferior alternatives to items such as these available through BCNM or Assault type battles?

To catch gilsellers, why don't you simply order gil through one of these organizations, then ban the account that fills your order?

Diffently please do something about those nm, i can't say how many times i've had to give up something cause of those things being camped only.

As for the gilsellers catch and delete idea, that's gotta be the most simple and probally way overlooked idea that could have done the job by SE themselves.

            Re: Any questions for SE?

Q: Are they any plans to improve upon the situation of Puppetmaster? Currently they suffer from extremely poor gear and becoming almost worthless after level 10. I could recommend a few ways to help this problem.

Give Puppetmaster better gear, for example, gear that Monks use.
Give Puppetmaster higher hand-to-hand weapon rating -OR-
Add new Automatons/increase they ability of current Automatons.

Q: Square says that they are trying to get rid of RMTs/hackers all the time. Unfortunately, even the mass banning of accounts is not resolving this problem. If anything it is making it worse. I noticed that after the recent mass account banning, prices went from things costing 5,000, to costing 8,000-9,000. It seems to me Square could resolve this problem fairly easily by ordering gil off of websites like IGE and banning the accounts of the people involved. I am aware that if they did this, GameMasters would have to actually put a little more effort into their job, but it would help the thousands of players suffering from this.

Q: Square continues to try to even out the jobs and make all of them equally powerful. Unfortunately, every time they try to fix something, they end up messing things up even worse. Are there any plans to put a little more thought into job updates before releasing them?

Q: At the moment, the Summoner job is primarily used for backup healing. After I had learned about the Summoner job it really turned me off from what has always been my favorite job in the Final Fantasy series. Are there any plans to perhaps increase avatar power, or to somehow make Summoner more desirable?

Q: Currently, the high demand for supreme gear is causing MANY players to have to sit around for hours waiting for an NM to spawn. Aside from the hours of waiting, they are then challenged to get the NM before the countless number of other people who are also waiting. Are there any plans to perhaps increase the drop rate of NMs or decrease the time between spawns? Or perhaps having less powerful forms of the items dropped by certain NMs?

Q: Overcrowding is slowly becoming more and more of a problem. Especially after the release of Final Fantasy XI on the Xbox 360 console. This causing many problems such as lag, more RMT, prices to skyrocket, etc. Are there plans to have World Migrations more often than 1-2 times a year?

            Forgive my bad spelling.

              Re: Any questions for SE?

Would it be better if the economy was completely NPC controlled? Gil would become like CP, all items Ex and all sales handled by NPC that buy/sell things for a fixed price, of course this would mean no trade between players at all.

Would that stop RMT and cheaters?
God, that's one of the most unique things about FFXI, is that the economy is entirely playermade. That's one of the big thing that sets it apart from other MMO. Taking that away would be like taking away subjobs =/

And as for WHM with a scythe, I doubt it would ever happen. Clerics cannot use bladed weapons ;o

                Q. When are we gonna finally see Phoenix????? >
I'll slap anyone who puts up a pic of Enigmatic Youth(like hell if I can remember his name)

                Q. Why haven't you as the developers decided to try a fixed economy approach w/ the servers? I understand your goal is to put all of it in the players hands and I figure your first thought on the idea was an Honor system - but w/ 2,000+ people on each server it's hard to trust the honor system, especially w/ RMT.

                Q. The summoner job is definetly a gimped version of WHM, there's several problems that need to be fixed with the job, in the past you(the developers) said you'd like to make smns use their avatars more often in battle. But the main reason that summoners don't use avatars for more than Blood Pact "release" is because of the beyond poor avatar attack and delay, normally my avatars hit for around 40 dmg w/ hits on a VT mob, well other jobs from THF to even WHM hit for around 60+, and not to mention the delay inbetween hits the melee's are capable of hitting for nearly triple the amount of damage the avatar has done in one hit. Also maybe making level 70 blood pacts skill chainable might help give summoners more of a reason to keep them out. Also by making it possible to SATA off of an avatar it would increase party invites greatly for Summoners.

                Q. For the Sunbreeze Festival last year the event item was a Swim Suit which was a cool idea, but... who's idea was it to give the male races short shorts? I think the person that came up with the Galka short short ideas should be slapped heavely, this is more of a request than a question but please don't give us short shorts... actual shorts yes please, or maybe a Kimono similar to how the swim suit works (Equip body armor and you can't equip any leg armor, equip hand armor and can't equip feet).

anyway that's my jumble of questions most probably sound stupid but i'm bored and can't really think right now!

                  Re: Any questions for SE?

Question: When are you gonna make the PC version of FFXI in window mode? If you are banning accounts for using tools such as the windower, you are in the wrong. As you may know, it can take serveral hours seeking experience party invites, and in that time Full screen mode cripples a computer for hours on end.

                    Re: Any questions for SE?

                    I thought of another one:

As Besieged has made apparant, FFXI seems to have some severe limitations as far as the game engine goes. Besides the fact that it's nearly impossible to have more than 30 or so characters on the screen at a time, I've always noticed simple little things that bother me, like if a spell effect hits your character as you're trying to engage or rest, the action isn't performed until the effect is over. If a character casts a spell or performs a skillchain, then switches equipment while the effect is happening, the effect disappears.

Also, when playing with some friends right next to me, we noticed some severe, pronounced lag in movement (i.e. I would move, then 1 sec later my char would move on his screen.) This lag seems to always be there for movement, but not abilities. Having that forced delay between checks of your Dbox or AH list is also sometimes annoying. What's the explanation behind these limitations/flaws, and are there any plans to alleviate them?

This is because effect models are tied to other models.

Basically, the switch when you switch equip that makes you invisible makes the effect invisible too. It doesn't always show up in the text log either, but it does happen.

And yes, that's not really a horrible lag, just because the client handles movement instead of the server. It's normal, even at fan fest it was noticible (Walking next to someone, their model was ahead of mine on their screen, and vice versa on mine.), and those are top of the line PCs on a great connection, to a server that was most likely nearby.

Stuff like Thundaga III and Fusion effects aren't model specific though. I realize that it is probably tied to the character, but it shouldn't. I can't think of a reason why this should cause the text to not appear either. Seems like bad programming to me..

Yeah, I know it's not network lag or anything. That's why I'd like to know why it's there, and if they can fix it. It really sucks for thfs =/

They are tied to the model, which is why if you swap equipment, your spells and SC effects don't show up.

                          Just like I said,

Why encourage communication between countries and then not allow use of IME on non-Japanese clients? If it is due to non-Japanese not understanding IME (in general), let there be an option to flip it on and off?

Do You Ever Plan to Put PLD and NIN on the same level? and On that Matter, Do you Plan on Getting Rid of all The /NIN you see in Conflict and End Game?
My thoughts on this is make shield mastery also block all DMG. NIN can take no DMG, atleast let PLD take no DMG outside of their 2HR. I have not done any conflict but iv heard almost every1 is /nin in it.

                                How is Windowing Cheating?
I just dont see how this would give you a edge over other players. Im sure their are many PS2 players and 360 players on the internet well playing.

Will we See NM and BCNM Fights in the TOAU missions, or Will they Mainly be Assault Type Missions?
Just something thats been on my mind.

                                Which FF Character Are You?

And you, wich Final Fantasy character do you resemble?
