    Will Valkurm Emperor Rare/ex drop rate be increased and if so what would be the percentage?

    I've noticed when hunting Valkurm Emperor it is usually the same people hunting from week to week due to having to kill him multiple times to get the Emperor's Hairpin while competing with everyone else who needs the drop. He spawns roughly every hour and a half to two hours provided the hunters kill the placeholders regularily. If you don't work full time it's not bad, but for people who do it can be discouraging to set aside 4 hours per day for an unknown period when your lucky to get one kill in a day.

    The pin's value is in its rarity. The Emperor's Hairpin is worth money because the Empress is difficult to acquire. The price you pay for the Emperor is in exchange for the time you will spend finding the Empress' pin. It is in balance--it need not be changed.

        This isn't gonna get submitted. A better question would have been are they going to make more force spawned NMs, or improve drop rates in general.

          There are several good questions for SE out there. I'm asking this particular one since it is a 24th level drop that 70+ level people return nightly to hunt as a non-sellable rare/ex.
          Afraid at present I'm not as curious about your 2 questions as the one I asked, but nothing stops you from submitting them also in a ask SE thread if they are topics your curious about.
          It might not be submitted, but not asking guaranties no response.

          The previous thread listed was for all rare/ex drops all being placed to 100% there are no threads in the 4 pages of ask SE for VE and I was curious regarding this particular one. This is a more specific question regarding one nm rather a blanket change to all rare ex drops.
          I'm not advocating for 100%, but I'ld love to see a bump in the drop rate. I'ld love to see 40-50%, but SE has better resources for figuring out percentates and game balance so I just asked If VE drop rate would increase and what drop percentage if it does.

            It's not non-sellable. Many of the people you see hunting it regularly are "merc'ing" Empress Hairpin. I have spoken with VE regulars who camp it for a commission. Simply set your character in the dunes, set QM on you and pony up 200k and he'll farm you an Empress. Just because it's rare/ex doesn't mean you can't make money on it.

            I personally like the current balance. On Asura, Emperor is down to 600k. It rises and falls with the economy to match peoples sense of when they should buy and when they should farm. If you don't like camping VE you can always do Dropping Like Flies. I'm not sure of the drop rate on Emperor, but for 600k a pop I'm sure it's not good.

              The reason for making it rare/ex was to remove the problem of it being locked down by higher level players all the time. I'm in a much better boat than some since I have thief high enough to use flee and ranger sub to widescan. Even with competion I can get a kill for each 4 hours I devote. If it's being merced so newer players have to pay to get a shot at it then that is more of an argument to increase drop rate that I presented to remove the stranglehold as demand goes down.

                There is no "stranglehold" as far as I'm aware. It's a cottage industry at best. Usually, those who complain about the drop rate are trying to camp it right now and are becoming exasperated. Perhaps a bit of advice on camping VE:

                Make sure all campers are aware of the "1 Placeholder" method. For some reason, VE gets "shy" if you kill the other flies (unconfirmed rumor and VE camp regular superstition). The 1 Placeholder thing is not a rumor, just the shyness.

                Sub Ranger or bring one. If you have to choose between /RNG and /THF choose /RNG.

                Use darts to claim.

                Bring a friend. It's so much easier to get claim with two or more than solo.

                Hurry up and wait! Be patient. It'll pop.

                With that said, I went 1/4. A friend of mine is 0/14. Some people I know went 1/1. The general consensus is about 20-25% drop rate which seems about right. If you can't get it...buy it. We did once get a drop of pin in an XP pt with two PL's assisting.

                  The drop rate seems fairly good, but if you are struggling to get claim, then I can see why you would see it as a problem. Personally I'm all for 100% drop rates on items from NMs. However, this item was definately worth the time I invested in obtaining it, but I did have any easy time getting claim with 50 RNG/THF. If you go to camp and find a job combination with both Flee and Widescan, you're probably waisting your time unless you also have the combination. It is just that potent at obtaining the claim.

                    While the thread was started with the suggestion to increase all drops to 100% it became a discussion thread on drop rates in general for all NMs. The thread covered a lot of reasons why rates should or shouldn't be adjusted. One overwhelming chord of discourse through the thread was that NM drops are not necessary. They are in fact luxury items, whether the player base agrees or not, and were intended as such. Drops are random. You're just as likely to go 1/1 on an NM as you are to go 1/10 or worse. Personally, I went 1/1 on VE after about an hour camping. Then again I went 1/9 on another R/E drop after 6 months of camping. SE already alleviated the issue by placing most of these drops into BCs. Sure, it'd be nice if they just delivered NM drops to our mog houses, but at some point there needs to be a little sacrifice for a reward.
