    Why are the EXP Bonus equipment Bands not stackable?

    I'm sure I wasn't the only noobie that saved for both exp + bands only to find the effects weren't stackable...

    Because then you'd be getting a bigger EXP bonus than they're meant to give?

    The idea is that one provides a bigger bonus per kill but gives less bonus EXP overall, while the other gives a smaller bonus per kill but gives more extra EXP in total if you kill enough. The former is for soloing at really slow paces or for really short periods of time, while the latter is pretty much superior if you get EXP fast enough (e.g. an EXP party that doesn't suck.)

      Yeah, sweet, I know how it works. Anyway, if you have one ring that gives you DEF +1 and another that gives you DEF +2, you'd imagine getting DEF +3 if you had both equipped... right?

        If I had two WHMs cast Protect on me, though, I wouldn't expect to have twice as much DEF+. The XP rings grant the same enchantment. You can't double up on the same status effect.

          Probably because if they stacked, it would be just ... too ... much. They've already made it MUCH easier to level from 1-75 with the changes in XP from level to level, the addition of the weak-ass ToAU mobs, and the addition of these XP bonus rings. Hell, if you want to even figure in the Sanction bonuses from not losing the AC and Corsair's roll, you're already getting it WAY easier than people who leveled before all that crap.

          They probably just don't want to dumb it down anymore. Sure, I'd love to get 600-800 xp/kill, but come on, how reasonable is that?

            almost as reasonable as the amount of XP people get in the other FF games. besides people with lives would appreciate it. =P

              I'm a person with a life. I have two young kids and a full time school schedule. I'm not complaining about the amount of XP I get.

                The nice thing about the Empress Ring is that it is only 1000 exp bonus total. Perhaps I'm the only one that noticed the problem with the anniversary ring when it came out?

                I burned my anniversary ring soloing my BLM in a day, was a nice little gift. Later on that weekend I join a party for my RDM with a level gap of 32-33. When the party ended the level gap was 33-38. The aniversary ring was a nice gift, but part of me is glad that is was a one time thing. It caused level gaps to expand too fast in a lower level parties if everyone wasn't using it.

                With the time restraints to reuse the two rechargable exp rings as they are, there would be instances where someone has already used thiers for the day and in the next party they join the people in that party using the rings would make the level gaps too large to fast and hurt the party dynamics.

                Furthermore, duplicate statis effects don't stack. Yagudo drinks don't stack with the spell Refresh. Drinks that give regen don't stack with the spell. Casting stoneskin and using a stoneskin enchanment piece won't give you two stoneskins. Casting blink (or even utsusemi) won't stack with a blink band, so on and so forth.

                And really, is a 500 extra exp going to make you level so much faster? It would save you 2 to 5 fights tops.

                  Why stack them anyway? Just use them separately. You'll still end up receiving the same amount of bonus exp overall.

                    Well to use them seperatly you'd have to go back to town to get one. Since you can't purchase both an empress and chariot band at the same time.

                      Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure you can only have one or the other in your possession in the first place. That aside, I'm pretty sure the conquest NPC gives you a warning about that.

                        That's correct. You can't buy any EXP ring while you hold one of either type.

                        I don't even understand why this is an issue. It's not like you desperately require these things to gain XP. They're just a nice perk.

                            Technically, you still can't have two of the same effect, otherwise you'd be allowed to have Minuet IV twice.

                              I thought maybe the OP was referring to the bonuses from Anniversary Ring and Empress/Chariot Band.

                              If not, then it would be possible for a player to use either Empress or Chariot band, toss the ring, purchase the other kind, and attempt to use the charge from it. And should that be the case, I stand by my question: why not just use the two charges separately?
