Could items in my Bazaar be sorted or manually rearranged?

Could you give us the ability to (more easily) order the way items appear in our Bazaars?

From time to time, I've set up a bazaar with many different goods for sale. I've been disappointed that I can't seem to figure out a way to order them in any sensible way. As a bazaar shopper, I find it rather annoying to find goods just listed in some random order.

It would be of benefit to both sellers and buyers if items in a Bazaar could be sorted or organized in some manner.

I have seen various theories on how it can be done currently. However, every attempt I have made has fallen short. And all of the prescribed methods require a huge amount of work per item.

I agree that sorting items that appear in my bazaar would be beneficial. I always check myself to see how the objects appear, and it's no wonder people don't buy stuff. I could organize it by price, or by item, but not just leave it in some mish-mash way.

I would also like the ability to autosort items. Oftentimes I will have 3-6 stacks of an item in my bazaar, and people buy from each stack separately. In order for me to sort these to either clear up space or just make more sense of what I've got, I have to take each item out of my bazaar, rearrange it, and then put it back in. Truthfully, this takes too long. I would love to be able to autosort items in my bazaar as long as they are the same price.

I think it is do-able to a degree. I've seen a few people with disparaging egg messages in their bazaars.

I've seen it done, too, but I still haven't figured out how to do it. Perhaps an option just like at the AH where you can sort items by name, by level, by cost, etc. would be beneficial.

Why even list identical items separately? Geez. All a buy wants to know is:

<item> <price/item> <how many left>

They don't need to see any item listed more than once. In fact, much of the time, a buyer doesn't even care how many are left. Listing "Almost-Mighty Dagger" 10 times benefits no one.

It's quite evident that no one very bright has put much thought into Bazaar's current design and implementation. >_>

the method is that the bazaar items are listed in the order your inventory aquired them.

For example, if I had an H egg and an I egg in my inventory, i'd transfer them to my bazaar, then grab the H egg, then the I egg, then list them in bazaar. after that, it wouldn't matter if I autosorted, it should still display "HI". This is how people get those obscene combos on there.

And SE can't implement auto-sort for bazaars, because it has the potential to stack things you want to KEEP with things you want to SELL.

The game already has to distinguish between items in your bazaar and items not in your bazaar. If you have a partial stack of Shihei that you're using, and a partial stack priced in your inventory, the two won't be mixed or combined in any way when you auto-sort your inventory.

Edit: I've read before about manually ordering items by changing the order you aquired them (e.g. by sending them to yourself). That falls under the category of "methods which require too much work".

If putting items into your moghouse and pulling them back out is "too much work", obviously you don't really NEED your bazaar sorted, do you?

The time it takes to do that is only slightly more than manually sorting items in your inventory, if that.

Did you actually try this method? Because I just did. And it did not work. The two items I tried to change the order of in my bazaar stayed in that order.

Even if it did work, imagine adding one item to your bazaar and wanting it to be listed first. What if you already had 20 items priced in your bazaar? You would need to:
1. Remove the price of all 20 items in your bazaar.
2. Put them all into your Mog house.
3. Bring them all back into your pack.
4. Put the price back on all 20 items.

That looks like a lot of work to me. Especially when setting the price to something in a bazaar to an amount like "17,500" gil just by itself becomes quite tedious. Have you ever had to price 10 unstackable items to some oddball price like that?

Yes, I have tried this method before, and I have been able to spell things in 10+ character combos using eggs with it.


It might have been removed, although that's unlikely. I'd suggest you try it again, with more items, and attempt them a second time *in a different order*.

And SE can't really improve that, unless you propose they add another inventory entirely for the bazaar, but that crosses from question to suggestion.

I tried it again. It seems that if I only move some of the items, then the order doesn't change (or at the very least, it doesn't change in a way I would expect it to). To get this to work, all items you plan to bazaar must be moved from your pack to the mog safe and then back.

If you have 10 items or fewer in your bazaar, order isn't that important. A customer who comes by can see all of it at once, without having to scroll. Having a sorted bazaar becomes an issue for people with more than 10 items. Simply saying "just move it to your mog safe and back" ignores the issue that removing prices from a large number of items and then putting prices back is time consuming.

And SE can't really improve that, unless you propose they add another inventory entirely for the bazaar, but that crosses from question to suggestion.

I don't see how SE would need to add a new inventory. If the bazaar simply displayed items in the order they appear to the owner in their own inventory, that would allow players to auto-sort as well as manually sort their bazaar by virtue of their ability to organize their pack.

Beseiged has shown that SE has much more fluidity with inventory then they've led us to believe.

Besieged inventory is the same as Ballista/Brenner.. yes, they can add more space, but it's a different inventory. Just because it shows in the same window doesn't mean it's occupying the same space.

Why would you put it in your bazaar out of order in the first place, if that was important to you?

Because some stuff sells, while other don't, and new stuff gets added. Publix doesn't sell out their entire inventory before refilling. Neither do all bazaars.

I don't remember stating it did. lol My point was that the inventory system as a whole is a lot more fluid then we initially thought it was.
