Confused on what FFXI game to Download

Hello all, I recently thought about returning to FFXI. problem is, I don't know what release to Download. Do I have to buy the Vana~diel release? or do they all come with the play online viewer and such? do I have to buy the DvD copy or can I just download the whole thing? thank you

I'm assuming you're playng on PC, so with that, go for the Seekers of Adoulin collection. It includes all current expansions, and should be purchasable either in physical form or digitally (see link below):

I thought they were making the client free? That's what they said at the Vana'diel project conference.
