Well there's plenty to be mad at the dev team for, but being mad at the dev team was definitely part of the job description for anyone who played Red Mage.
I guess that's why I didn't play RDM that much then. I really liked how my RDM played for the most part, with the main exception being that enfeebles were pretty much useless at endgame without Elemental Seal, even if you had capped skill and merits. If skill points mattered more, it would have been nice.
And of course that goes for all skill points in game, like your crafting skills. How I break an item I'm 40 skill levels over is beyond me ...
That was just one thing that bugged me. I spent hours of my time meriting and getting skilled up on certain things and they barely mattered.
Somebody was impressed by what I would consider a modest WS, especially for RDM. I took a look at him (BST) and he was mainhanding Richardet 2-4 and subbing Glyph Axe.
Wasted two stacks of Ghrah M chips this morning failing to solo Jailer of Fortitude. I'm more bummed about my inability to win than the loss of the items, buuut I also could have used the nearly half a mil those things were worth. Gonna go obliterate some trolls in besieged to make myself feel better.
Enough people ignored besieged to stay in Adoulin that it actually lasted nearly half an hour. Fun times. I managed to get like 10 killshots and got to do this:
It wasn't even the incorrectness of it. The disgust actually came from the thought they didn't even think he might be talking to a 2' tall infantile halfling.

This may have been an lolqutrub, but numbers are numbers. No meds unless you count the wing.

Judging from sheer attire, it's probably safe to assume that you're more sexually mature than he was.

Nintendo always seems to have a legion of haters at the wings ready to jump in and prop up straw men about hardware and gimmicks and casuals.

However much I am actually smart, I got that way by confronting how stupid I am.
I laughed far harder at this than it probably deserved.
Goblin drinks, if you did not know, are made by dissolving a watermelon, a carrot, an onion, some cabbage, a turnip, some gysahl greens ... and a newt.
Sometimes I find myself wondering. What is your standard denizen of Vana'diel like if considered in the same frame that players are?
I mean, you have characters like Windurst's 9-2 NPC, Ajido-Marujido. He is the supervisor of one of Windurst's schools of magic and is a duel job BLM and RDM. At first, it is suggested he is around level 60 because he mostly sticks to ancient magic and -ga II spells. But then he plainly knows tier IV nukes, which would actually put him closer to the original 75 cap. It's just that he only uses them when he uses Chainspell. So he has a questionable AI if nothing else. But he's probably higher leveled than everyone beneath him in rank.
The previous minister of the Orastery, Shantotto, is understandably far more adept than Ajido. She's older and was actually a hero during the war against the Shadow Lord's forces. She casts meritted Ancient Magics which would put her at 75 at least.
But then you have all your various other NPCs throughout the world. A lot of them are wearing rather standard issue gear, I guess mostly as uniforms. Like the entirety of the Duchy guards.
In fact, what does a higher level mean anyway? I mean, a level 30 BLM would probably defeat a level 5 WAR in melee combat. Does the fact the 30 BLM has higher HP mean his body actually is stronger? Or just that he "knows" how to take hits better and won't sweat a flesh wound that would cause normal citizen to panic?
