Even for the SE dev team, they're out of their freaking minds. Did they seriously not anticipate that this was going to happen when they created weapons on such a world-breaking scale?

Word is they're trying to migrate toward gear tiers similar to the WoW model. You know, where you burn through 3 tiers of gear or whatever and then the next big update obsoletes all of them with the next set of tiers? Because that's clearly what the FFXI playerbase is yearning for and what FFXI's game design lends itself to.

That comparison has certainly has been everybody's gut reaction. I would doubt it moreso myself, but the very existence of these new weapons in and of themselves are so very much a blight on the nature of the game. Should they continue to exist as they are, surely nothing good can come from it.

I saw some posts floating around elsewhere that indicated there was a gaxe with ~230 base damage. No screenshots to go with it though, so take that number with a grain of salt.

245... on the GS... and it's craftable. It's not Rare... its not exclusive... and it's craftable.

A month ago people were bitching about skirmish weapons being overpowered and competing too closely with R/M/E with their "insane" at the time dmg ratings. So far as I know, nobody has even managed to get one of those weapons and now they look like cardboard compared to the new stuff rolling out. SE, typically you want people to get a chance to play through content before you obsolete it.

And then everyone will migrate to an MMO that SE isn't running, because you'd be a fool to trust them again if they deliberately sabotaged their own game like that.

There's a depressing number of posts on the official forum that basically amount to "I'm fed up with SE and this game! I'm going to move on to FFXIV instead."

Though, then again, it is the official forum.

So...to distract from all this madness about weapons...

Yesterday, I was sharing an idea for how some of my gamer friends could pick up chicks. Girls really like progressive types so tell them about what a diverse variety of friends you have.

"I'm in an online guild with Asians and whites and blacks and at least 3 out homosexuals. Also, 1 confirmed girl."

The linkshell pointed out 2 problems with my idea. (1) We had no wheelchairs. (2) The lady started running the moment you said "online guild."

Also smacks of "I'm not racist; I have lots of black friends." I'm neither female nor dating, but the minute you start rattling off the races of your friends like they're pokemon, I'm going to start looking at you real funny.

If it's true, you might instead say something about how your guildies are "from all over the world" which alludes to the racial thing and I guess makes you seem well-traveled in a sortof modern stay-at-homey kind of way.

That part I did get. Was the first part of your post that made me worry you took me seriously. Somebody on Facebook thought I was being serious.

I don't know. I kind of liked what this guy had to see about Alhanelem:

I'm so certain your actual job and profession is to be on these forums and defend the Dev team regardless of what they say and do. They could delete your own character for lolz and you would defend them and find some way of arguing you had it coming.

It just infuriates me more that SE needs to hire people to "balance" the opinion on their forums - because i am just so certain you are paid to white knight everything SE says and does.
