That used to drive me nuts, you'd get such better xp/hr if everyone subbed a DD subjob.

Also this thread title is win, I thought it was going to be one of those "put yourself in your character's shoes" threads. I'm not sure if I can say "welcome back" if I am not actively playing and thus cannot be welcoming, but I do hope you find enjoyment playing again.

Bst/Dnc. Solo - Bst/War or Sam in a group with a healer.
Smn/Sch
Sch/Rdm
Rdm/Sch
Dnc/Sam
Pup/Dnc solo - Pup/War or Sam in a group.
Drg/Sam

I've never /nin on bst.
Even at 75 cap I used /whm on bst until I had enough survival tools to /dnc.
I've never really been a fan of shadows unless it's definately needed.
/dnc gives me a selection of useful abilities and throw out a few waltz to keep the stronger dd's alive if healing is limited.

Job Combinations I use:

WHM/SCH (I tend to laugh at WHMs subbing /BLM, /RDM is fine in Voidwatch though)
WHM/NIN (Solo, DD and Off-tank, it has it all)

DNC/WAR (DD, blows THF/WAR and DNC/SAM out of the water by a long shot)
DNC/NIN (Solo or Tanking only)

THF/WAR (DD, it is the only viable subjob that lets a geared THF compete anymore)
THF/DNC (Abyssea, General Solo play or Tanking only)
THF/NIN (Soloing NMs or Tanking only)

NIN/DNC (Only if tanking or Soloing NMs)
NIN/WAR (Only if DDing due to better defensive cooldowns and better damage, or tanking with a healer in the group)

COR/BLM (When I can be bothered to farm the gil for the rest of the dice)

NIN is still a very good sub for BST, especially since you get DW3 at 90.

cool seem to be the same pattern with many people, so I feel a lot better with my selections ;p

can not wait to start playing DRG, DNC, and PUP again, love all three jobs, but I must first finish my subjob leveling, just so I can get it out of the way.

My main goal once I get at least one job to 99, is for me and my friend to duo all the story missions up to current. (well what is duoable anyway) He had to start over as well, so we will be doing every mission from the core game all the way up.

o.O Really? Even when I was farming Fomors in Lufaise for the Extra-fine File (this is me at level 76, btw), I've never actually gotten Fomor aggro--it was always me who had to engage them.

It's only the set of Fomors at Blueblade Fell that aggro. The rest of the zone is too low.

Squiggs is right, even at maxed out Fomor Hate, only the ones at a high enough level to actually aggro a LV99 will aggro a Lv99. The reason why it seems like an auto-aggro is that an EP at 75 will still be an EP at 99 in terms of EXP and Level Correction.

/DNC is arguably more useful than /NIN anyway, unless you really really need shadows.

This a million times over. /DNC offers a ton of utility and even while Waltzes suck, it is still a self-heal or a way to bail out a WHM that got tagged with Mute. Plus you have Steps, Haste Samba and Flourishes.

I guess I still have a very ToAU-ish mindset. Those kind of things are pretty hard to let go for me. I see everything /DNC has to offer and I still think "NIN gives DW3! Toucans! KEEEEELLL!!"

DW3 is VERY useful in Abyssea though since everyone can hit the Haste Cap there (which means you can switch out your +Haste Gear for other things while TPing). My Thief never stops auto-attacking if someone hastes me.

Sadly, Cid is the only person who ever does haste me on Thief
