Ok. Good. They're taking their time which means they DO care about what they are releasing this time around. Which is good, very, very good.

It just seems very sad and bleak, not like the Melody I chat with on the forums is all.

My happiness was long gone after a set of events happend. Since then I have dulled my emotions down to a near empathetic level. But this is not the place to discuss how I feel. I'll tell you more if you PM me.

Too bad you never got to do WotG missions, Melody. You and Lilith would've gotten along very well.

Could care less about XI Raydeus. Sorry, with XIV on the way like a baby in it's final stages of pregnancy I am waiting for it to be born.

                    To the OPer,

I think you are fine to come back. All it takes is a little research to find some good leveling spots. You can get to 99 in a couple days if you got the extra buck for abyssea leech or you can do it in a couple weeks solo with just F/GoV pages. Do some leveling and missions will be easier also. Pick a decent starter job, you can do A LOT solo or in small groups. Half the missions are uncapped, and there’s a lot of cheap gear that can at least ‘get you by’ till you’re higher. You’ve played before…having a general idea on how the game works is a nice advantage.

You don’t need any ‘endgame’ shell…at all. Are those even around anymore aside from Legion? Find a decent social shell, chat with them for a few days and build some relationships. Actually talk in the shell too. It drives me nuts when there are ‘mutes’ in my shell. Give a little time, then see if people are free to help. Don’t demand. Nothing is more annoying than joining a shell and asking for help right off the bat and expecting people to drop everything for you. If You should be able to tell if they are helpful or not pretty quick. If they arent…find a new social and rinse/repeat. If you cant get in GoV parties for you level, do pages that are borderline too easy for you. your main EXP will come from page completions, not mobs. Keep flag up just incase. Use book buffs also.

I got/get plenty of shit done solo before and after abyssea. Do FoV pages and just regular soloing. I’m sure along the way you’ll find some people in similar situations. You become friends and help each other out. You barely need full parties for half the shit these days anyway.

You may see people complain about not being able to get in parties these days but to be honest, it’s ALWAYS been that way (at least for me). I soloed 3 jobs (bst/pup/blm) and I can’t tell you how much hell I went through trying to level up Smn. Those jobs would be a breeze to level nowadays. And always remember, it’s an MMO shit always takes longer than it should.

Thanks for everyone's input. I have a friend who has kept playing the entire game since the beginning. Anyway I just purchased the game for xbox360 (paid $75) ouch I am a console player, so I will probably wait for the PS3 ver to come out as far as FFXIV. Till then I will be back on FFXI

                        Re: Worth starting all over???

Sry im a little late to the conversation. I just wanted to give the prospective of someone who recently came back. I have been back to FFXI for a month and a half maybe. There are parts that are hard to get used to but that is because I haven't played since COP came out. It is much easier to level now and you will find that if you do a little crafting then you can make decent money with low level gear just because other people don't sell it anymore. Also the crystals still sell and you can get tons of them. I did not have any LB quest done before I came back and only had one job up to level 45 I think. Now I have done the first LB with some help (not form a LS), have 2 jobs to 55, started a new job and have it to 30 as well as taking a couple of subs to 30-45. I have not stepped foot into Abyssea.

Everyone saying it is going to take a long time to level and everything are right in a way. Through the prospective of a person that has grown use to the new FFXI it is a long time. From the prospective of someone that played for years and never got any job to its cap leveling and such goes crazy fast. Before I would spend a bunch of time waiting for an invite to a group and I remember latterly sitting at the zone of the dunes for an hour or more waiting for a group. Then you got into a group and if it was a good group you might get 2 levels in a hour... it might have been longer but I cant remember that well. In any case a group would stay there leveling all day long and didn't like anyone to drop from the group. This was hard for me because I have more to do than any game and usually only have an hour or 2 to spare. Now you might wait for a while to get into a group but while you wait you can still burn through pages by yourself. If you have to leave after an hour or 2 then nobody cares.... Sometimes they will even tell you to stay and just leech the exp till they need to drop you.

I have seen more and more people leveling lower level jobs and I have been in several groups not more than a week ago in crawlers nest. The thing is .... you need to go there and solo till other people get there. They will come one or 2 at a time then when more people do /sea and find groups there they will come. At least this is my experience. I have recently been given a LS and it is a small one. But I have not had any help from the LS.... I also have not paid anyone. Just come out of your shell and talk to people (not to ask for help) and when you do need help they might be there or they might know others.

Anyway I think that some of the problems are caused by people wanting to level so fast that they forget how slow it use to be or they never knew how slow it was.
