Yeah it was nice to have as a safety net, especially on Valefor when the AH are basically controlled by RMTs and End Game shells that can afford to take the loss and run your prices down by flooding the AH with bottomed out prices on what you are trying to sell.
The blinkers were purchased for Cruor and sold to NPCs for roughly 3.2x the Cruor value. So if you participated in 2 hours of a worm party in Abyssea and walked out with 250k worth of cruor... you could then "blink" that 250k into 750k.
Don't forget Dominion Ops Weapons, as well as the fact that if you are keying, you can ninja all sorts of terrible loot with augments nobody will even look at (Lore Slops, Taru Sash et al) that actually NPCs for about 3.2-3.6k each. You can quite easily make a nice chunk of money purely by NPCing that junk or even dumping them on someone via the AH if the prices had sneaked up enough.
Also mercing Dynamis Currency was and still will be a nice money maker if you have any TH job (THF. BST, RNG).
You'd be surprised as to how often Bounty Shot procs a TH upgrade. IIRC it's worked out on a different formula than TH for THF and BST. I'm not calling it the best TH Merc job but it can still do it.
fishing requires investment of rod and bait. but rods and some bait/lure is re-useable. so isnt catching fish with reusing bait and selling to an npc the sameas printing gil via blinkers?
I'd only jus started to blinker for gil. it seemed the only way to make gil. profiting through crafting is tough first there's skilling up but that takes gil in itself, ingredient costs and then there's competing with an already top heavy market.
But where's your gil to get you started?
Questing is no good, 100gil won't get you very far.
blinkers gave us a reason to spend points we have way too many of. They could of gave us a bank or something to with them like a weekly trade with a cap on how much we can trade once per week.
Soon we'll have capped points at least turning it to gil we at least had a chance to buy products from the inflated market.
people will still be selling their drops in the millions like before just now only those that blinkered early will get them and once that gil dried up we'll all still be saving for months for that 1 peice we're holding out for.
SE seems to forget how fast we level these days.
I wonder sometimes aside from the programming do they actually pay attention to their world?
Also SE gave me the finger twice in the update. I've been getting wildgrass seeds from aht urghan and growing trash for about 5 years. Every product is greens and a few crystals. none ever sell well on ah tried it too many times, bazaar is no good so its npc for gil and they nerfed the price too @ npc.
Only those raising a chocobo will want greens and now many people do taht at all.
Dyna has always been rough on leviathan and the tree for wisteria lumber and moss. wisteria lumber 6k+ for 1 ???? and they nerf my greens that vary between 300-500 hmmmm that's fair.

well it was only about 40-50k on a harvest but I still had to invest in the seeds themselves. check on them and feed them crystals.
I know its not as major as blinkers but the wildgrass trash recipe has been used for years,
People dont garden anymore becuase the new age players think pots are just furniature lol.
Lol @ Yyg.
I was trying to agree with you about how fishing prints gil like blinkers did, Especially when you use a re-useable lure and then adding how the nerfbat got me twice. Allthough gardening isnt popular as it was, The recipe I used was all trash and npc items without having to worry about competing in the market with others, That and gil is hard to get other than crafting which costs gil to skill before you can even attempt making a lot of gil from it.
