Huge problem running FF XI :(

Hey guys, I'm new here, just signed up =D

I got this game couple days ago on steam (after a 5 year absence) and installed it on my W7 x64 machine (i7, HD4890), ran into some updating trouble, but it's all good now, all files are validated and checked...

Whenever I run the game, it starts off fine... But then after a while the music and the sound effects progressively stop ... and at that time if I try to log off, the game crashes/freezes (whatever background noise is still left still plays, but the picture freezes and I have to use task manager to kill the process), if I don't log off, and wait too long it does that too.

I tried defrag, updating drivers, flashing my BIOS, rechecking the files in POL, run in compatibility mode ... i can't think of anything else, can anybody help me ? please ? D:

Have you tried taking the battery out and putting it back in?

Joking, but in reality it could be something as simple as right clicking and running as administrator. Have you tried using a windower? that may help or it may not. Also, ensure that you only have your files saved in one spot on your computer. Sound card drivers may also be a problem. Also, i know jack about this and these are just my ideas, sorry if they dont help you at all.
