Does the exp scale any higher as you progress throughout the levels or does it stay at around 100-200 solo? Please note i am not interested in hearing some jobs can solo 300-400 exp a kill. What i want to know is does it scale? At level 50 will i get 400 a kill per average strength mob or something? Or still the average 100-200? If so is there a way to chain kills for more exp? Still pretty new, Do people just do regime's and get tabs? Is there a better way to lvl other than grinding mobs out in the wilderness? Not complaining, simply curious. Thanks =)

Re: Does EXP scale or stay around 100-200 solo?
These pages should answer all your questions:
Experience Points - FFXIclopedia, the Final Fantasy XI wiki - Characters, items, jobs, and more
Experience Chain - FFXIclopedia, the Final Fantasy XI wiki - Characters, items, jobs, and more
The short answers are no, experience rewards don't scale with your level, and yes, you can chain kills for an experience bonus, but only if the mobs are all even match or higher and if you kill them within a time limit.

Re: Does EXP scale or stay around 100-200 solo?
No, it doesn’t scaled differently depending on levels. I forget the formulas so my numbers aren't 100% accurate, but here's the gist of it.
Anything easy prey or decent challenge will give 1-199 (depending on its level compared to yours)
Anything Even Match will give you 200
Anything Tough to Incredibly tough will give 201-600 ish (depending on mobs level compared to yours)
So if you were to fight only even matches from level 1-99 you'd only get 200/kill.
However, If you kill an Even Match+, you have a certain amount of time before the next kill to get an chain bonus. I forget the formula for that as well, but it’s something like +0.1x per chain up to chain 5. So if you killed 6 Ems really fast it would look like
200
220 Chain 1
240 chain 2
260 Chain 3
280 Chain 4
300 chain 5+
Actual xp parties (as in non-abyssea or tabs) are borderline nonexistent. So at this point, yes, it’s probably best to get regime/tags. Just my opinion.
if you do solo a lot on DC+ stuff, might i suggest getting an xp ring with conquest points?

Re: Does EXP scale or stay around 100-200 solo?
Those two answered your questions, but I would just like to point out the importance of not confusing EXP per kill with EXP per hour. If it takes you the same amount of time to kill one mob that gives 400 exp as it does to kill three mobs that give 200 exp, guess which is going to be the better option?
This is why training regimes are so popular, particularly Grounds of Valor regimes found in mainland dungeons: they give you large exp rewards after every completion, with Tabs and gil once per Vana'diel day as an added bonus. These rewards even become larger with Grounds of Valor done in the same area, and you can get some nice Prowess buffs from it, too!
In fact, the increasing exp reward for completing a Grounds Tome regime is so lucrative, some people organize "book burn" alliances, completely throwing any consideration of exp per kill out the window in favor of maximizing exp per hour by completing consecutive regimes as fast as they possibly can. Famously for middle level ranges are Crawlers' Nest book burn alliances, and I personally got to level 70 quick fast and in a hurry with a book burn in Bostauneiux Oubliette, where I was frequently getting 6-8 exp per kill with an exp ring effect active from leveling my NPC earlier (unfortunately, they don't receive the benefits of training regimes). Side note: book burns and exp rings unfortunately don't mix very well; the Dedication bonus does not apply to the completion of a regime.Originally posted by ArmandoNo one at Square Enix has heard of Occam's Razor.Originally posted by ArmandoNintendo always seems to have a legion of haters at the wings ready to jump in and prop up straw men about hardware and gimmicks and casuals.Originally posted by TaskmageGOD IS MIFFED AT AMERICA

Re: Does EXP scale or stay around 100-200 solo?
One of the main failings that any of these newfangled "get exp quick" schemes FFXI has is that often you miss out on necessary skill-ups along the way, which you'll be paying for later. There are skill rate-increasing foods now, in fact, because of the popularity of these systems, without regard to those consequences, and furthermore you can even cap skill on DC mobs now (previously at least an EM mob was required). Even soloing GoV can occasionally give you a Prowess that increases your skill-up rate (and in my judgment, it was pretty noticeable). Also take note of the "Martial Mastery" Super Kupower.
As of such a link to a burning guide by level, I know of no such thing. If all else fails, you can usually ask the LS for the best ways they know of getting to a certain level.Originally posted by ArmandoNo one at Square Enix has heard of Occam's Razor.Originally posted by ArmandoNintendo always seems to have a legion of haters at the wings ready to jump in and prop up straw men about hardware and gimmicks and casuals.Originally posted by TaskmageGOD IS MIFFED AT AMERICA

Re: Does EXP scale or stay around 100-200 solo?
Actually mobs in Abyssea are really easy to hit even with a low skill. I was hitting an NM with my staff on WHM the other night while helping Hayde and was hitting regularly.
My staff skill was 103
Basically the reason for this is so you can proc Red on NMs with a subjob level skill. Also Level correction is a huge factor in your favour now as there are like, zero regular mobs and a handful of NMs that are over Lv99.
Skill ups are now something you will get while meriting and not being maxed out isn't much of an issue. Insisting on capping your skill points at every level up is not utterly redundant and a bit of an idiot move given how easy it is to skill up while also meriting. As long as a Combat skill is high enough to hit and to hit for more than 0 and a magic skill lets you at least land the spell you will get skill ups.
And trust me, Lv99 BLMs, DRGs, SAMs, WARs, DRKs, RDMs (needs very good gear), SCHs and THFs can one shot merit mobs (my Lv95 THF damn near two shots Worms in Abyssea when Bully is off cooldown) so it's not as if it would slow down a merit alliance going full speed. Most people will leave you to kill a mob too if you just tell them you're skilling up and don't want the mob dead yet.Rahal Gerrant - Balmung - 188 DRK

Re: Does EXP scale or stay around 100-200 solo?
For skilling up, I would suggest going /dnc and doing crabs somewhere outside of abyssea. Kuftual and/or boyada tree. In my own personal opinion, I’ve noticed a MUCH higher skill rate on outside mobs in abyssea.
While working on my GS, I was getting much more skill ups in Kuftal tunnel crabs than I was in Abyssea-Mis.
On the flip side though in abyssea…with the right weapon (very low damage) and the right atmas (high regen) you can pretty much pull a crab to a safe spot then go watch a TV show because it will take that long to kill lol.99 BST, PUP, WAR, MNK, THF, WHM, BLM, SMN, RNG, BLU, RUN, PLD
