Selecting a Server

I didn't see any other appropriate place to put this, so here we go.

I'm brand new to this game. Had an opportunity to try it years ago, but my friends jumped to Warcraft so that is what I played. That said, I've heard that the community in this game and the people in it make it something special. I've always enjoyed the Final Fantasy series, so here I am!

I know its an older game, so I'm wondering what servers would be the best choice to choose. I think I want to roll a Warrior, eventually into a Paladin for tanking. I want to fight a good Linkshell that is social and willing to take on a rookie and answer any questions I might have. Any suggestions?
