how do i register a new account for 360?

So now that i have the code off of steam i need to register it. only when i fire up the disc on 360 it tells me to register on the website. I go to the website it asks me to transfer my playonline ID to a Square Enix one, I don't have a playonline ID, i need to register it, where can i do this? And why did they have to make this a nightmare? They can't ditch playonline process? I have to sign up for the game which i should be able to do ON THE GAME on a website, then i have to transfer it! I mean am i the only one who see's ohhh 2 steps or so too many!? So ya, i have two codes, one for the game, the other for the expansion. both of which i need to activate BEFORE i transfer, and for some reason that method is not appearing to me.

i should add that i do have a square enix account now, i just got one, but i need to link my playonline with it, as i said i can't even find the option to make a playonline ID and register my product code.

Should i get a authenticator? I read that it comes with a gobbie bag? I stacked a few of those bags in the day, like 6 or 7 but every bag helps! Is my account really in that much danger?

Carbuncle. Im not sure how the population is on it, i never even checked when i joined 4 years ago but i always liked carbuncle in the games lol. actually look up the definition of a carbuncle, not a very pleasant thing to name after a cuddly blue skunk!
