Geomancer looks like a second attempt to get SCH right. Only instead of pressing buttons, it involves complicated mob position. And BRDs everywhere refused to allow GMC to join their parties. Besides...Feng Shui Soldier?

Not to mention it's going to continue hammering nails into Red Mage's coffin.

I just can't see this ending well. Did we really need more jobs? We've got 20 and SE can't seem to make all of those relevant without some eclipsing others completely. How in the hell are they going to handle it with additional jobs that have that problem right out of the gate?

To be fair, I looked up the background to this.

Apparently when Christian missionaries first went to China centuries ago, they decided that Feng Shui was essentially just a Chinese version of Geomancy, and so decided to translate Feng Shui into English as that. So there is a fair bit of historical background for this connection.

Didn't Babelfish translate BLM, RDM and WHM to something like Black Taoist Master, Red Taoist Master and White Taoist Master?

My personal favorite Babelfish engrish will always be Victory March though: "Triumphant Return March of the Glory."

The guy in the mandragora costume was freakishly tall (for a JP).

I still think it's Mystic Knight at long last. It's the only job that comes to mind that uses swords & magic together (unless they are inventing a new one just for XI). This is what I've been waiting for since about the 3rd year of WotG, and I'm definitely going to have to re-sub now. But it will likley be off and on between major updates for the story, as overall I'm still done with XI and am really enjoying XIV. I doubt most of my old XI friends are still there anyway.

oh mew!! nice nice stuff, but I think that swipes Geomancer's exclusivity on FFXIV 2.0 Geomancer could have been the one unique classic FF class that FFXI doesn't have, but oh well, maybe FFXIV's Geomancer will be more DD based and with AF costumes more like Final Fantasy Tactics Geomancers. The tribe costume style is better, mew.

Sigh J9, I am in a quandary as to how the hell you function on a daily basis. My conclusion is you are some kind of cat alien. On topic though, this will not bring be back, but I hope to see more of the content and what SE does with the 2nd job. New lands here we come. PS2 limitations? Haha...

This is because machine translation sucks, particularly with Asian languages. That "Tao" is the same "Tao" in Judo, calligraphy, Shinto, flower arrangement, etc. It just means "way, path", and it's frequently used in the names of various skills, especially traditional ones; so all it really means is "[One studied in the arts of] Black/White/Red Magic"

The other possibility would be Rune Knight (Celes) to me. Its something that would bring more to the table than Mystic Knight since it can absorb magical damage to heal themselves or rechannel it as damage back toward an enemy. SE hasn't intentionally made a tank class since ten years ago, so I certainly think its time for a new tank.
