  • FFXI Job Update (Someone post them)

    Today i was bombarded with messages from twitter regarding the recent job adjustments. For whatever reason, neither my work PC or my phone will show the pages properly and I cant tell what the changes are.

    Would someone (lookin at you, Mal) post the changes that have been made so that I can see what they've done to SMN and COR?

          SMN got elemental spirits getting tier V spells. Dark elemental got to sit in a corner and think about why it was there to begin with.

          Corsair got some nifty stuff that changed how Snake Eye merits and Fold merits worked. Snake Eye is now on a five minute timer and additional merits increase the chance of a double-up hitting 11, provided your total is already 5 or higher for obvious reasons. Fold is now on a five minute timer and additional merits increase the likelihood of it bringing PR off cooldown. Yay?

          What it realistically means is that you can remove any extra merits you had in fold and sink them into winning streak instead.
          I'm planning to redo mine like this:

          5/5 Snake Eye
          3/5 Winning Streak
          1/5 Fold
          1/5 Loaded Deck

            Elementals is Meh... COR looks promising though. I like the idea of increasing the chance of an 11. That would definately get me motivated to bring Snake eye to 5/5.

            The timer reduction is also nice.

            I completely agree with your merit plan. I would likely do the exact same thing.

              What on earth were you doing without five merits in Snake Eye? That thing was stupidly useful even before these announced changes.

                So if I logged in to FFXI today, I wouldn't have to reallocate my merits at all. They were left exactly on New Year's Eve 2009 as Cid plans to reshuffle his today.

                Fold was only ever worth one merit. Snake Eye certainly was always 5/5 for me.

                    I'm woefully out of touch with any changes that have transpired. I kinda relied on this site and all the goodly people who posted the updates which have declined. Most my 'at computer time' is at work and all those sites are blocked.

                      Additional merit points no longer reduce casting time, but instead increase the likelihood of resetting the Phantom Roll recast timer.

                      Earth Spirit: Stone V (Lv.77)
                      Thunder Spirit: Thunder V (Lv.92)
                      Water Spirit: Water V (Lv.80)
                      Light Spirit: Protect V / Shell V (Lv.76)


                      [dev1108] Job Adjustments: Dragoon


                      Deep Breathing
                      Recast time reduced from fifteen minutes to five.
                      Additional merit points no longer reduce casting time, but instead further enhance wyvern breath effects.

                      Empathy
                      Now also increases the wyvern's level at a constant rate.
                      Additional merit points no longer simply increase the number of beneficial status effects to the wyvern granted by Spirit Link, but also increase the rate at which the wyvern gains experience.

                      Restoring Breath adjustments
                      The priority by which status ailments are cured will be adjusted as follows:
                       
                      (Pre-Adjustment)
                      1. Disease/Plague
                      2. Curse/Bane/Doom
                      3. Paralysis
                      4. Blindness
                      5. Poison

                      (Post-Adjustment)
                      1. Paralysis
                      2. Curse/Bane/Doom
                      3. Disease/Plague
                      4. Blindness
                      5. Poison


                      [dev1107] Job Adjustments: Ninja

                      Sange
                      Recast time reduced from fifteen minutes to five.
                      Additional merit points no longer reduce casting time, but instead reduce the likelihood of shadow images being consumed.


                      [dev1106] Job Adjustments: Samurai


                      Shikikoyo
                      Recast time reduced from fifteen minutes to five.
                      Additional merit points no longer reduce casting time, but instead grant a bonus to the amount of TP shared.

                      Blade Bash
                      Recast time reduced from fifteen minutes to three.
                      Plague effect duration increased.
                      Additional merit points no longer reduce casting time, but instead increase the effect duration of Plague by fifteen seconds per point.

                        Saber Dance is simply a toy but a very fun toy when a zerg is required. I have one merit in it. Neat change though.

                        Fan Dance is amazing and just got more amazinger. That change is pretty sweet. Anything that decreases waltz casting time is BOSS.

                        Neat I've always wanted to use that ability more since I've gotten many more of the latest BLU spells.

                              ^ pretty much.

                              I've been meaning to come back to XI, purely just to unlock all the achievements I've earned up to this point (a friend gave me his 360 copy). I really should do that soon so I can uninstall the game.
