So many years down the line, this still makes absolutely no sense to me.
First that a message informs you of the fact that you've been examined in the first place, second that it would be phrased in a manner that could be deemed offensive and left that way over the span of 10 years, third that someone could take offense to that, assuming that the translations people provide for it aren't grossly exagerrated - really, how oversensitive do you have to be to be offended by an automated prompt informing you of the fact that someone looked at what equipment you have on your character in a videogame, even if it is worded a little harshly?

How could a rational person implement the function in this manner, and how is it that after so much time the development team never even considered amending it?

What further bothers me in retrospect is how hateful, elitist, and generally screwed up the Final Fantasy XI community was.
I dread to remember mentioning WoW... to have everyone jump on it like ravenous hyenas that suddenly lost the ability to feel any emotion save for the purest hatred.

Well, for one WoW sucks and people playing it are retards. I know this because that's the ultimate undeniable truth of the universe.

And about badly worded XI auto-translation terms... well it took them only 10 years to try to adjust Circle job abilities. So fixing translations should be just around the corner in... 7 years or so.
