I noticed SE posted something awhile back saying they give you a discount on FFXI if you're playing FFXVI too and I was wondering if that still was true?

If it is I was thinking of returning, hoping to get my old account back but I'm afraid its been too long, and afraid I'll have to start over so I was wondering if all areas of the game but Abyssia are ghost towns? I was 69 RDM just about ready for Matt when I quite and was leveling on Imps in TOAU areas.

Also a part of my consideration is if Pts require AF2 for Abyssia and what the preferred subs are for RDM 75+ now? I never unlocked SCH or SMN before I had to quite.

The discount is only valid when you start paying for FFXIV, too.

Abyssea areas are still the dominant areas in the game, but recently there has been a resurgence in lower level parties. Most of these are in dungeons doing Grounds of Valor (think FoV, if you were around for that, on steroids) Most of these are done in alliances also. If you do have to start over, then the grind is not near what it was.

I don't play RDM, but I would think you should have /WHM /BLM and /SCH, maybe /NIN also, depending on the situation.

Pretty much.

You can get away with subbing Scholar for just about everything that doesn't require Sleepga or Chainspell stunning, but /BLM and /WHM have their place. /NIN is pretty much for soloing and anything beyond that is gonna be a highly specialized build for people doing stuff that's off the beaten path.

I'm not sure where the concern over AF2 armor is coming from, seeing as how it's all macro pieces. Just gear yourself intelligently and you'll outperform the vast majority of the playerbase. Don't stress out so much over specific pieces of gear.

So since I started FF14 first I can't get the discount? That just isn't right. I'm missing Vana now though... I really missed Beseiged and Campaign especially. lol

Honestly the thing I'd be most upset about would be the gear loss especially if the gear is as costly as it was for 70 RDM and Matt fight suppllies. I was doing a lot of farming when I had to stop playing. Is the economy still out of control?

At the higher end, gil is largely irrelevant (though not even close to completely), as gear is mostly r/ex. Consummables (food, ninja tools, etc.) are where most people are spending their gil nowadays. Some lower end gear is still expensive, but, I think, the economy is mostly considered to be in a valley right now.

And, you are getting a discount because FFXIV is free.

The Gear question had more to do that I don't have time to live in an endgame LS to gain points so I'm not sure I'd ever be able to go to Dynamis enough to get AF2. I have too much on my plate to sell my soul to an LS so I was wondering if this was still the case. I'd hate for someone to turn me down for a party because I didn't have a certain piece of gear.

You can get a lot done in game with a small group (I do most of my seal or gear farming in a group of 3 or 4) in Abyssea. No one is going to turn you down because you don't have Dynamis pieces.

To further add to that, a LOT can be done solo now a days. Cid solos a lot of his stuff on RDM (and he doesn't even have a Duelest's Chapeau). I mess around a lot on SMN getting things done. Pretty much any job can get something done solo now, even if you are limited on time. Some of it is much more tedious than others, but again, it can be done.

How much are you paying for FF14 right now? When that amount is not zero you can get the discount.

I think I misunderstood. So you are saying once you've linked the account when 14 starts billing then the discount on 11 kicks in? I thought you guys meant we couds never get the discount unless we activated both games at the same time.

Hi all. I too am restarting me some FFXI, and I was wondering if I could get a heads up on what are the hot DD jobs/subs are now-a-days. I had been thinking DRK or SAM main, but I heard SAM had really fallen out as a triple a DD. I'm pretty open to whatever. I don't really care about ultra #1 dps or anything. I'm just tryin to avoid gimp-hood.

Any help/tips are appreciated. Thanks much.

WAR and MNK are the hot DD jobs right now. WAR for proccing and MNK for tanking. With their empy WS they are considered the best DD along with NIN. All of this is inside Aby, of course

Raise III for 1M+?

I always forget that R3 is 1M now (I got mine for 10k before the level cap raise). Utsu: Ni and Phalanx have also gotten really expensive.
