Favorite NM, huh? Thats a tough one. I'll have to break it down into a list of 2.

For quest/mission based NMs... it has to be Diabolos. That guy was a huge pain in the ass and a lot of fun to fight. He also had one of the most fun arena's to fight in.

As for NMs that are around the world (poppable... timed... roaming... lotto... etc...) it's Cerberus. The first time I encountered him it was just jaw-dropping and awsome to see it roaming around near me. Shortly after I saw it... it saw me... and I was quickly destroyed... but it was still one of the more fun NMs to see/fight.

His avatar fight is now beyond a joke. Just got his avatar and man, none of us were expecting to kill him in 3 SAM WSs.

I saw it... it saw me... and I was quickly destroyed...

Same thing happened to me when I first encounterd Ixion. It was the first AoE that I'd ever witness that wasn't confined to party/alliance. I was doing some quest and proly in my 30's - 50's and saw it from a distance and was like:

"Wow, that looks freakin' epic!!! I'm gonna check this out"

"Wow, I'm dead... I'm barely w/in range to see the thing"

~360 finally process everyone fighting it~

"How many alliances are fighting this thing? ... looks like at least 3"

... I hadn't encountered the vulture mentality of other LS's waiting for a wipe yet...

After about 10min someone finally braved the horse's range to Raise me. I cherished my Azoth as a vengeance trophy even though I hadn't ever fought him. Ran across him chilling in Jugner (S) while doing some WotG questing. Took some pix while I was on the safety of the choco. Pretty nifty looking NM.

I really like how some of the new Abyssea Worms look. Idk them by name but I've been pretty impressed w/ their 'looks' so far.

Serra. Never have I taken so many days to camp one NM, and damn when he popped it was an epic battle against my 60 DRK. They were intense as all hell.

Archduke Kam'lanaut.

I had a lot of fun soloing this guy. I wasn't at the level cap and I hadn't finish NIN yet so I went in /SCH and kited around the room that wasn't exactly great for kiting. Got my butt kicked the first time around and just really enjoyed how it all came down to the wire when I finally did manage to defeat him.

It just felt like a rewarding challenge and it was a memorable solo from when I was first getting into the groove of soloing harder stuff on Red Mage.

@Cidbahamut: Grats on the win. I duo'd that fight at 75 as PLD/RDM with a WHM/SCH before I quit and had a blast too. We also got our ass handed to us the first time around. How long did the fight last?

I don't remember now, it's been a few months. I don't think I made it to a second convert though, or if I did the fight was finished shortly thereafter.

It's a fun fight.

What I always found weird was that Apocalypse Nigh was actually easier, despite the fact that you fight them both at the same time rather than separately.

Forgot Charby. I didn't camp him for a long time. Other friends I had camped him but I was always unable to join due to RL, work, theatre, etc. Then I just said, "F it... I'm just gonna go down there and spend a few hours hoping... I'll play Plants vs Zombies in between Manta pops." .. I got lucky and Charby popped about 1.5 hrs in and I solo'd him pretty easily on 90 DNC. Long fight and a NIN was standing ready to claim if I died but Charby never had a chance. Always wanted a Joy-toy... now I don't even need it. But I feel fulfilled to have it.

How dare I forget to mention the infamous Sea Horror. Very first NM I ever laid eyes on, like most people... spent the rest of the boat trip face-down because my "escort" decided to engage and well... being the naive new-comer that I was...

Least I got my revenge as a 66 DRG when I decided to solo him - Favorite NM only because I had an audience as I skewered his head into the floorboard! Bwhaha!

I felt as though I had beaten up Sea Horror's big brother when I beat the sh!t outta Charby... it felt good... oh so good.
