He's not really doing it wrong. Ultmately... its more beneficial to buy and sell the gear you purchase using Dominion Notes... since they can't really be used for much else... but I did a little Pearl, Auore, Teal conversion for a while. It's harder... and takes longer but it works.

Cruor can be used for brews later on in the game... its ultimately better to hold onto it and use it for that purpose later. Dominion notes on the other hand... are only used to buy NQ AF3 gear... and even if you purchased all of the pieces for every job available... you'd only pay like... 2 or 3 mil in dominion notes.

Save your cruor.... spend your Dominion notes. Other than that... your plan seems fine to me.

However…Dom Ops are used for other things. I believe my h2h Double Attack +10 weapon required 50 D. Shades or something (cant remember the name)
And some the items are pretty useful, even though I only use them when brewing Shinryu

i didn't mean to come off rude or disrespect anybody, i was just looking for answers or tips on how to make money and the whole first page was nothing but people posting off topic which pissed me off.

Ok I'll bite. Making money in this game is tough for anyone. What you have to remember is that the people who have millions have literally been playing this game for a decade and the money has built up over then.

For new players one of the best ways to make money is to fish since even now people are still buying Moat Carp en mass for Lu Sheng's.

Crafting consumables (Healing items, ammo, food, Ninja Tools) is also worth it since people will always need them.

Farming the ingredients to said above popular consumables is also a good way of making a bit of gil. Most crafters won't waste the time to gather the materials since all you save is gil that you will make back in profit when you sell the finished item anyway.

If you have Treasure Hunter from Thief, killing beastmen also makes modest amounts of gil while you level up. Some even drop scrolls, items or ores that will AH or sell to an NPC for a modest amount of gil

Also keep this in mind: having a fat bank is impressive but if you aren't spending that money on improving gear then there is little point in having it. Gil that just sits there is not useful or helping you. I know plenty of people with millions of gil and shite gear because they just want to brag about their huge gil balance that nobody but themselves can see.

And what I find hilarious is that making money on Rift is actually harder than it is on FFXI due to money being utterly useless on Rift once you have all your Soul Spec slots and your epic mount (Which basiclally costs no more than 300 Platinum)

What is even more hilarious on Rift is that you don't even NEED an Epic Mount, a Blue Mount is all you need due to Epics not giving THAT much more speed. Also while you can buy up to 4 alternate spec slots, you very rarely NEED all of them unless you are a Rogue, maybe a Mage and even then it's only if you PvP, and if you PvP as a mage, you are a horrible person for playing such an overpowered calling.

Basically once you ding 50 you will never need money again on that game...


that was the kind of post i was looking for and i'll have to try fishing, i guess i'm just used to games like WoW and Aion and other games where money just flows in like its nothing,

@murphie i did play for more than 2hours you were just not on the whole time i was, and i already discussed with another person in the LS that i am restarting fresh i used to play on another server where i had a lvl 75 blm, in which i got money the illegal way which i regret which is another reason i wanted to start fresh on a new server.

so i admit to past mistakes that i could have kept to myself, and i get hung out to dry by a LS who advertises to help people. yeah i made mistakes b/c i didn't wanna take the time it takes to earn gil the right way. but i didn't expect to be turned on like i am the worst person in the world.

First of all: We do help people, although it would seem like you have no trouble helping yourself. Our LS helps people who want to play as you so accurately put it... THE RIGHT WAY.

The fact that you admit to buying gil at all is nothing short of impressive... most people who do that keep it to themselves... and for good reason. Its people like you who royally eff up the game and its economy because you can't be bothered to actually play the way you're supposed to.

If money flows so freely in those other games, go play those. If you want to work hard to earn the rewards you seek... come back to FFXI.

Also: If you think this is harsh... the way we're talking to you now... go ahead and shout in-game about your past gil-buying experience... I'm sure you'll hear a lot worse.

Anywho... I'm tired of talking about this.
