Re: [dev1015] Abyssea Update Scheduled for June 6

SCH and RDM need to get Cure V at lvl 90 already.

I was kinda getting tired of useless WHMs who can't even fire a C-V on a dying tank, let alone keep a bar-spell up.

(Sometimes tanks died with 2 or more WHMs in a party while the silly RDM was trying to main heal with IV, good times indeed.)

We have a WHM who does just fine hitting us (DNC and MNKs) with multiple C-V's... kinda goes both ways. Tanks need to quit being lazy and hold hate. Course you might also attribute it to leech-WHMs. As I might attribut it to leech-TNKs.

Useless WHMs are useless, just as there are useless players in every job.

Unfortunately I have the bad luck of usually partying with the useless kind of WHM nowadays. Also, considering how many emnity reset moves Aby mobs have it's kinda impossible to prevent the mob from hitting healers from time to time.

Which brings me to another peeve about these useless WHMs, the can't keep Stoneskin/Blink/Aquaveil up, nor Reraise AND they run around like headless chicken when the mob turns to them instead of using all the tools they have for surviving while the tank restablishes hate.

I noticed this in my Aby alliance yesterday (happened with RDMs too). It's like...stand still. We can't pull it off of you if you're running around like that.

That's the shit you're supposed to learn as a noob healer in the Dunes. Yep, you got a WHM leech problem.

I have no idea why SE made the lowest level for Abyssea be 30, but it should have been at least 50, where the XP curve takes that sharp turn upward. (Some will whine saying it should be 75, but I think most everyone will agree 30 is just way too low.)

Not one of those gimp leeches, but there's a WHM in my LS who apparently doesn't understand the concept of MP survivability. She always goes /BLM (probably doesn't have RDM or SCH up) and wears a body piece with CP+ but no refresh. That's great in Dynamis, but not so great for mission fights that last more than 2 minutes. I just wanna facepalm all day about that.

My first main was WHM, and I was so happy to get Noble's Tunic and (much later) FoV refresh. I know how non-gimp /WHM is at low levels with that FoV refresh because I know how gimp it is without refresh and why.

I think 60 would be a good minimum level for Abyssea. But SE likes their leeches.

Not really. I've partied with people at every level and every job that didn't understand that you can't outrun the mob and running around screaming only increases the chance of a wipe. Some people just don't learn no matter how many times it happens or how well you explain it to them. Also: I'm pretty sure Dunes parties happen before level 30.

Also also: if not for Abyssea leeching I may never have actually finished leveling up NIN as a subjob. So yeah, I'm totally ok with it for leveling up subjobs you hate to play.

Mine is RNG... not that it even seems relevant for SAM these days. Or even that SAM is relevant anymore either. *le sad face.

And now that I have BLU, lvl'n I foresee lvl'n RDM and WHM for subs too... though skilling up will be a pain. I'm still debating on that.

But I tend to think the problem doesn't lie with the oppurtunity to be lazy presenting itself. It's not SE's fault people are fine being gimp and play a job w/o any idea of how best to do so. That's the fault of the player. I'm guilty of burning a job up.. but I've not coasted from 30 all the way to 90 in a single worm alliance. I started taking advantage at 58 and only gained a few lvl's, then I'd go and farm spells and skill up learning how to play the job solo experimenting with spells and such (LFP and nada, nothing, no-how, nowhere.). It's a player's choice to learn about the job they think they need to have. SE isn't forcing their hand.

Sometimes people tends to blob around where the healers are while the tank is killing the mob. In those cases if you get hate you run towards the tank and to the other side to avoid getting the rest of the alliance hit by any AoE the mobs might use while the tank regains hate.

But that's as far as you should go. Otherwise you just stay put and take it like a man.

Re: [dev1015] Abyssea Update Scheduled for June 6

The other benefit of running is that the mob has to run to follow you, which means someone might notice that it's (a) on you and (b) not asleep.

Anyway... I wonder if they will allow multiple chests from the same mob? That might make people stop being so afraid of getting ruby light. There are even people who want to pass on ebon because it has ruby in it... If they don't allow multiple chests from the same mob it's hard to see how there can be significantly more chests overall, since it's pretty easy to get to 90+%.

Also, if only the person who destroys the chest gets cruor, that could have some bad effects with people trying to destroy chests before someone else does (or worse, destroy chests that would have been better to open). Soothing light is an obvious candidate for destruction, and any light you don't really want, maybe the aug items that are only good for NPCing, but if people start destroying synth materials (that aren't completely worthless), useful temp items, even key items or scrolls... that could be trouble.

I wonder who will be the first person to complain that their AF3 shoes were "accidentally" destroyed by someone else in the alliance who just wanted more cruor for themselves. (This would, of course, be especially likely if the cruor reward for destroying high-level chests is really large.)

While that is true, it also makes it harder to target the mob as it is moving, and using the mouse to target the mob is quite hard. I have seen healers fall because the tank was unable to target the mob due to the healer running around, making the tank targeting everything but the mob.
