I'm glad you brought up Summoners.

Do you remember how SMNs tried to main heal at 75 using Cure III?

That's kind of what it's like now only replace SMN with any given class and Cure III with Cure IV. It can technically work if you work around it, but it's still pretty shitty.

I guess it doesn't matter because I don't play. I just read these threads to see what's going on in the game and I'm always really annoyed by the RDM whining. Also, I'm really sour from my team playing like shit. Which I shouldn't take out on you guys.

Graghogbhaosdgp. Gonna go take a shower. I feel like crap and the last thing I want to do is go to work tonight.

I'm probably wrong to say that RDM needs nothing right now, but I also still have a lot of love for WHM and the last thing I would want to see is WHM get thrown in the back again as the unwanted stepchild of healing. Give RDM something, okay, but make sure you let WHM still be wanted and needed. SE really sucks at that, though. Which is frustrating. But then again, I don't play, so I shouldn't care. Anyway, maybe this update will be good. Who knows? And besides, there's another nine levels coming up soon-ish so who knows how SE is planning to change things up. This could just be a precursor to something else entirely. They have been known to surprise us, after all.

Anyway. Didn't mean to get so fired up. Pissed off at something unrelated and taking it out here, which I shouldn't do. But I do hope that SE doesn't do something insane and make WHM the forgotten one again. Even though it shouldn't matter to me. I still have a lot of love for this game, though. Oh well. Blegh. I feel like crap today. Sorry guys.

Aks pretty much posted everything I wanted to post though replace "favourite sports team losing" with "Wasn't able to watch Doctor Who, the only TV Show I watch anymore and the thing I tend to look forwards to most in the year because I one of my sisters is a 20 year old woman who throws a hissy fit whenever something she isn't a fan of is on TV and she doesn't want to watch it". That and add in "Due to government funding being cut I'm going to be out of a job once I'm done with my finals next month."

I am annoyed that people assume that just because I don't play the game at this exact moment in time means that I also can't possibly be in contact with people who play the game or do my own research. I mean it's not exactly hard to ask someone what's going on in game or read threads from the many FFXI fora that are still going, or even *gasp* watch streams or videos from Abbysea.

Anyway I didn't mean to come off like I did and I apologise.

The difference between SMN's & RDM bitching is SMN was (and arguably still is) a very broken job at it's core for a long ass time.

RDMs are just whiny, spoiled little brats always wanting more when the parents have already given them everything they can think of. Like TM said, how about actually making it so enfeebling magic matters worth a damn since that's supposed to be RDM's specialty in the 1st place.

Do you know how many HP a MNK has in Aby? I'm just curious.

Or for a less extreme example, a WAR.

Is that a rhetorical question? Because it matters most how many Abyssites of Merit he's got. But 3000+ on a MNK is not out of the question.

A WHM with MM Atma can keep a MNK tanking for a good long time with Cure V/VI bombs. That plus low damage output is why PLD is now one of the least useful jobs in Abyssea.

And RDM whining isn't just one person's observational bias because I've seen it too, at least here.

And as someone who prefers to play WHM over RDM, I do find it kind of sad that any job can get Cure IV now by subbing WHM, yet that's the highest RDM gets on main. The "turn it into a job trait" idea makes a lot of sense. Too much sense for "Old SE Team" to have done it that way. And I have to agree about enfeebling magic not being useful when the mob is gone in 15 seconds.

I must admit, that's kind of why I don't feel more sympathy for their current situation. Because of all the drama queen RDMs (and BRDs too) who were treated like gods even if they played like crap. (I'm paticularly referring to the kind of RDMs who would wander through the dunes casting Protect IV on passing lowbies, which lasts about 5 minutes, as though they were doing something useful.)
