Siren World Has Marked 3,166 Consecutive Victories in Besieged! (04/14/2011)

On April 14, 2011, the chapter was closed on one of the greatest tales of heroism that Vana'diel has known. On this day, the brave adventurers of Siren World suffered their first Besieged defeat after a remarkable 3,166 consecutive victories—a spectacular record of unbroken triumph dating back to the system's introduction on April 17, 2006.

Though their streak may have come to an end, the heroes and heroines of Siren World can take pride in knowing that tales of their valor will be sung in teahouses across the Empire for ages to come. We congratulate them on their efforts, and extend our best wishes to adventurers of all Worlds fighting to defend the Astral Candescence from the vile hands of the Beastmen!

To be quite honest, I would've though they'd have given up it by now, but good on them for not losing it for nearly 5 years!

I'm shocked they were able to keep enough people doing Besieged after Abyssea came out.

Some people are really passionate about really odd things.

Not that Besieged isn't fun, because it is, but sometimes people have very weird focuses.

All 50 or so of them... on Fairy, which used to be pretty good about keeping the candy, we've lost it three times in the past month.

It's bad enough when too few people show up, but it's worse when there's a low-level besieged. Since Abyssea, it seems to take a lot less time for each level of Preparing, which means you don't even know it's happening until it's almost over, even if then.

I'm guessing that people fighting stuff out in the ToAU zones, even just chaining pink birds, somehow slows down the Preparing phases. Then add to that the announcements that are seen in Whitegate and Wajoam, where less people hang out these days, so you have less people who are even going to know to show up. There are those of us who would get our asses over there if we simply knew it was happening.

If SE wants to do something to fix this problem, I would suggest making it possible for people to know more easily that a Besieged is happening. Maybe some key item that you could get that would work like the Marble Bridge coaster that would let you see the messages while anywhere else.

In other words, Besieged needs a freaking Bat Signal.

I've always been of the idea (mainly due to fighting Campaign completely alone dozens of times in the Eldieme S) that there should be a bonus to people's stats and damage/defense/hp/mp depending on how many people area participating in the event.

If you are:

Solo - You are a freaking NM with say 4000hp/3000mp/damage999/defense999 and crazy stuff like that.

Two or more: divide the bonus between the players participating up to 10 people in campaign, (more people in larger events like Besieged) after that the bonus stops working and it's Campaign/event like usual.

I only find Besieged fun if you can see what's going on and your macros don't take 5 seconds to fire off.

As for 3,166 consecutive wins...yeah...we're lame like that.
