Re: nVidia finally fixes 400 series!!!

    Questions that matter:

    How much?
How many of the current-gen games would it support? (DX:HR, Portal 2, etc).

I want something cheap for current gen games, this is seems to be mostly covering older games and stuff I haven't heart of.

      The rest is jibberish.
      It's a driver release.

That I saw, which is why it would be a fix to the 400 series.

I know plenty about computers, but when people start getting hip-deep into specs and such my eyes just glaze over and I shut things out. My most basic question would be: does it run most things except the Crysis games?

I have a GTS 450. It struggled with FFXIV and I can't max out settings on Starcraft 2 or Just Cause 2 and maintain a consistent framerate, but it runs Civ 5 and Dragon Age 2 beautifully.

Re: nVidia finally fixes 400 series!!!

My GTX 465 runs Starcraft 2 and FFXIV just fine (SC2 is on Ultra settings, XIV I leave on default)

I got it for around 269.00 Canadian I think, minus a 25.00 rebate or something like that (Canada Computers was clearing 'em out) only cost me like $5 more than the GTX 460 because of the clearance.

The 460 is also very good, slightly weaker but uses less power too and is very quiet. Really the 400 series is quite good if you're gonna get a nVidia card, though from what I hear the current top models for ATI are better. I'm just happy for the FFXI fix at last.

Re: nVidia finally fixes 400 series!!!

Even though Crossfire is better (for now?) than SLI I'm starting to consider very seriously going Intel/nVidia for my next rig.

But it all depends on what AMD/ATI do in the next 2 years.

(I've just upgraded, so my next rig purchase is scheduled for around Dec2012/Jan2013. And hopefully TRIM will work on SSD RAID0 by then since I'm buying SSDs next time. )
