  • The February Mini-Update Goes Live! (02/14/2011)

    Event-related

Level restrictions have been lifted for the following nation of allegiance missions:

San d'Oria: Journey Abroad / The Ruins of Fei'Yin
Bastok: The Emissary / Darkness Rising
Windurst: The Three Kingdoms / The Final Seal

In Fields of Valor, the once-per-day limit on undertaking training regimes has been lifted.
Regimes may now be completed for experience as often as desired. Gil and tab rewards, however, will still be awarded only once per Vana'diel day. With this change, hunts and individual training will no longer share the same timer.

Traverser stones from the NPC Joachim (Port Jeuno, H-8) may now be acquired in bulk, up to your maximum carrying capacity.

The NPC Ehrhard (Abyssea – Grauberg, D-14) has been replaced by the NPC Tancredi.

    Battle-related

Experience point yield for defeating monsters in non-Abyssea areas has been increased.
*This increase will also apply to dragoon wyverns and adventuring fellows.

Combat and magic skill increase conditions have been reworked.
*This adjustment will also apply to automatons.

Skills may now be increased to their caps by fighting foes rated "Decent Challenge" or stronger.
Skills will rise more rapidly, and larger values will accompany each skill increase.

Item drop rates have been adjusted for the notorious monsters Apademak (Abyssea - Uleguerand) and Dragua (Abyssea - Altepa).

    Item-related

The following reward items for the Treasures of Aht Urhgan mission scenario may now be reobtained:
    Balrahn's Ring / Ulthalam's Ring / Jalzahn's Ring

To reacquire the reward, speak with the NPC Nadeey in Walahra Temple (Aht Urhgan Whitegate, J-7) without any of the above items in your ownership.
*Should you discard the reacquired item, the event timer will reset with the next conquest tally.

The following items may now be stored with the Porter Moogle NPC:

    Moogle Storage Slip 04
    Razor Axe / Barbaroi Axe / Marauder's Knife / Raven Scythe / Fencing Degen / Peregrine / Sniping Bow / Blessed Hammer / Casting Wand / Beat Cesti / Kukulcan's Staff / Honor Sword / Immortal's Scimitar / Anju / Zushio / Magoroku / Turbo Animator / Trump Gun / War Hoop
    Moogle Storage Slip 11
Imperial Standard / San d'Orian Flag / Bastokan Flag / Windurstian Flag / Jeunoan Flag / Gold Moogle Belt / Silver Moogle Belt / Bronze Moogle Belt / Red Sash / Dash Sash / Happy Egg / Fortune Egg / Orphic Egg

Items involved in ongoing Magian trials will no longer be handled by the porter service.

The recipe for Pet Food Eta has been revised as follows:
(Old recipe): San d'Orian Flour, Apkallu Egg, Ruszor Meat, Distilled Water
(New recipe): San d'Orian Flour, Apkallu Egg, Buffalo Meat, Distilled Water

The price of Instant Retrace scrolls has been reduced from 500 Allied Notes to 10.

    System-related

The update installer for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360 versions has been upgraded.
Version update installations will now require less storage space.

The <petmpp> macro command has been added.
This command will display the current MP of your pet or automaton as a percentage of its maximum value.
*Your pet or automaton must be within targeting range to use this command.

The <wait> macro command has been added.
This command may be appended to the end of a macro line to set a delay before the following line is executed. The syntax is <wait #>, where # is the length of the delay in seconds (from 1 to 60).
*The <wait> command will only function properly at the end of a line. Placing it at the beginning will result in all other commands on the same line being ignored.
*The existing text command "/wait" may still be used as before.

(Ex.) Old and new formats for a white mage macro casting Protect, Shell, and Haste in succession:

    Resolved issues

The following issues have been resolved:

An issue wherein players being evicted from Abyssea due to visitant expiration would lose some of their temporary items.
An issue wherein the item drop rates for the notorious monsters Ironclad Triturator and Ironclad Sunderer were incorrect.
An issue wherein wieldance cards were dropping less often than intended.
An issue wherein shadow sachets were not being dropped by monsters.
An issue wherein the following areas were not being covered by text command searches:
    Abyssea - Uleguerand / Abyssea - Grauberg
An issue wherein the Magian Spectacles were not functioning properly in Heroes of Abyssea areas.
An issue wherein equipping a Magian-upgraded Lv. 90 Yagrush together with Orison Pantaloons +1 or +2 would cause the white mage job trait Divine Benison to function improperly.
An issue wherein fishing up a pair of rusty leggings would consume fishing bait.

    Known issues

The <petmpp> command may display an inaccurate value if used immediately after calling forth one's pet or automaton.

    English Version Only

The help text for the blue magic spell Delta Thrust contains the following inaccuracy:
(Incorrect) Chance of effect varies with TP.
(Correct) Effect duration varies with TP.

Here's hoping the new exp changes mean I can find non-Abyssea parties more often.

          the words were
Amount of experience points obtained by defeating monsters in non-Abyssea areas will be revised across the board.
so i would assume anything that gave xp, would be doubled. They used 'even match' as an example.

While it could just be a bad translation, you would think if they simply doubled the EXP reward across the board, they would say so.

They honestly could have done something like :

            EP - x1.5
            EM - x2
            IT - x2.5

But I have to wait for this evening to find out. I'm hoping the boost is good for everything, it would be a nice boost for duoing.

Cool. I'm sure some whining about lack of challenge is sure to follow. Finished Windy this weekend... now onto Basty. Wasn't gonna do it but a friend mentioned that I keep all my OPs now so, here I come Basty.

Awesome. I'm really stoked about these two. Makes finishing my /NIN and the possibility of growing MNK or continueing NIN more likely for me. Never really felt like key-whoring and I like getting skillups whilst lvl'n. Commence the "back in my day... experiencing was on top of a mountain, the snow was 20ft deep, and it was up-hill both ways, etc."

Right on? Idk... affects me since I play on 360. We'll see, anyway. Watch it just causes all of us PS2 and 360 users to freeze all the time.

At first, I panicked thinking that I'd have to re-do a whole sh!t ton of macros. Then I read this:

More efficiency, takes up less space. Who wouldn't want that in a macro?

Re: The February Mini-Update Goes Live! (02/14/2011)

Well…either way, more xp for my subs is welcome. I thought the ‘City of Heroes style’ could have worked if they started it years ago. But I have no idea how easy/hard that would be to implement. (CoH had double xp weeks every so often).

I have yet to use Petfood Eta but maybe now it will be a little more affordable and I’ll give it a shot. Zetas have been working just fine for me. I could even get away with the one before zeta but it’s never up. Guess I’ll pick up whatever is cheaper now. I can’t imagine the price being to insane when theirs buffalo Ops going on as well as the Apkallu NM being somewhat popular for seals/KI.

I can’t see the pictures but the <wait> command sound good for someone like me. I can hopefully condense some macros instead of splitting them up.

For pup I’d rather have <petmp> instead of mpp but I’ll take what I can get. I’d rather they adjust the AI. Possibly in the future update? Sick of Mushroom casting aspir when he’s got like 750mp still. It’s like I can’t get 2 spells off unless I recall it.

It doesn't take up a line, so you get to squeeze in up to 3 more commands into any macro that contained /wait.

It would've been more win if you could perform multiple gear swaps in the same line, but it's better than nothing.

We still need to just have more lines. This doesn't really fix anything so much as offer a modicum of relief in very specific circumstances.

The only thing I see myself using this for is my /dance4 macro.

You don't seem to understand that SE isn't just taking away challenge, they're taking away variety.

The more they change, the more bland/generic this game becomes. All they're doing is pandering to who's left to keep them playing. They're not attracting new customers with this stuff; There's nothing about these updates that make people want to come back if they've quit. And not only have they made missions boring, they haven't added any real new ones with a proper expansion to offset that for the current level of the game.

But then, that's probably because there is no proper expansion in the works.
