There is a WG Warp NPC in Upper Jeuno. Just gotta do the Lure of the Wildcat quest in Jeuno.
Lure of the Wildcat you say?

AF3 +1 and +2 are some of the best pieces for most jobs for most of the time. There are exceptions, as always. And yes, they are actually quite common now -- I personally have the full +1 set for my PUP and 3/5 +1 for my BRD. I've seen MNKs in full +2 sets, and I know a good number of people who have at least 1-2 +2 piece.

The difference is likely because they are all rare/ex, and the items used to obtain them are also ex. They're nice enough pieces that someone will go hunting NMs for the items they need, and 1-2 other people will go help them out for any other items that also drop from those NMs. With regards to +1 items, every source of seals also drops 3-4 other jobs' seals (including the quests), or more if you count OPs as a decent source of seals. +2s are more difficult to obtain, since they only drop from 2 NMs each, which are often force spawn NMs that are tier 2 or 3s. But, enough people are spamming them that the pieces are starting to become more common.

As far as 'there have always been 10 question', that's not the case lately. The last 2-3 at least were only 3-4 questions each. I haven't seen one as long as this for some time.

Good to know. AFv2 +1 were a huge pain in the ass to get, and with currency prices on some servers, also pretty expensive. I didn't think the +1s (and +2s, that's new since I quit too, at least for AF) would be commonly used. That's cool though. Less timesinks = good. Glad to see SE is finally realizing that.

            It's good and it's bad.

It's good because those of us who have been here forever and busted our asses for things in the past get a well deserved and overdue break from the traditional "GRIND FOR EVERYTHING" manner in which we were conditoned.

This applies to the new "no more level restriction" addition they made to certain missions and areas as well as the adjustment to the drop rate of certain items in Dynamis.

It's bad because the new players who are joining just now don't get to have the same sense of accomplishment as we had when we finally got that drop we've been waiting FOREVER to get. I remember sticking it out through over 12 runs in Dynamis before SMN hands dropped (and it was my turn to get them). I was STUPID happy when it said "yygdrasil obtains _____"... not just then, but any time I got something elusive.

To be fair, the game has been out for a long-ass time... and those new players just joining are having a hard time getting anywhere with anything... so it makes sense... and I understand WHY they did it.

One of the main reasons that I /ragequit when the server merge/level cap increase were announced was because I heard that CoP zone caps were being eliminated. At that point, I had literally JUST made it to CoP 8-2... after over 2 years of PUGs to do the various battles... joining and leaving Static groups, begging people to come and help me with the Airship Fight and Tenzen... and all around BUSTING MY ASS to get it done... just so I could have that GD Ring and a sense of accomplishment.

Then they uncap the zones... right as I finish. 2 years of work... only having 1 or 2 days a week that I could set aside to play... and they eliminate the cap just after I'm about to finish it.

I could solo almost all of the missions at this point. And the Airship fight is a joke now. How can I feel good about my accomplishment when people are breezing through it in a weekend now?

I felt the same way... though I also felt good about going into those zones and stomping over all the mobs that used to do it to me... kinda like the small kid that becomes a cop in his home town.

Yeah, I agree, but for a game this old, they're still able to attract new people. Comparing (groan, I know) with WoW, it's always been easier to take a character to cap, but they've even made that easier than it was, too. There are XP bonuses - bind to account gear that you can give to your other toons so they can get an xp gain bonus, also joining a guild with level 6 or higher (new as of Cataclysm) gets you a 10% xp bonus, so leveling toons the second (or third, or fifteenth) time is a lot easier. It definitely does attract new people back into the game.

I would never go back to FFXI because I'd have to start over, and no matter how much easier they make it, I'm never going to get some pieces of my gear back, and I just won't want to settle for having less than what I had. I worked really hard for a lot of it, I waited a really fucking long time for some drops (hi2u Cleric's Belt), and I just flat out do not want to go through that shit again just to get my new character back to where my old one was. Or better, for that matter, thanks to the level cap raise. Because I'm sure that even your AF1 stuff is still being used at endgame in certain situational occasions, and very little is ever made obsolete in FFXI. It makes me sick to my stomach to even think about it, honestly. And while missions are most certainly a lot easier than they were, I don't really want to put any work back into that shit, either. Flat out, I did this all once, I really have no desire to do it again, no matter how much easier they made it.

More power to the people that can do it, but honestly, no. I just can't. Even when the nostalgia bombs hit me, I'm still not interested in doing All. That. Again. So yeah, I definitely see why SE did it, they just didn't win this particular player back.

NO THE DEMONS NO GET AWAY!!!

And I'm sure you would, I just ... I can't. Aksannyi #1 was the one and only. I tried making a clone of myself on Kujata for a while when Sevv started his (brief) DiV ls and I played her like 2 days and couldn't get into it. Wasn't the same. Same reason I won't just buy a geared account. I just had so much attachment, even if I got another character to the exact same status with the same mules and with all the mules exactly the same and basically cloned my old account, I still couldn't do it. I'd know. Aks #2 wouldn't be the original and I'd know and it would taint my enjoyment of it.

At least my WoW account has always been mine, from the ground up, as stupid as it sounds, and while I used the same name for my main toon, I don't feel like I'm betraying my FFXI Aks. Silly? Maybe, but that's just how I feel.

Also, after having been a loyal customer for 5 years and getting banned over some stupid credit card snafu, I have no desire to pay SE a monthly fee ever again. This is also one of the reasons why I'm reluctant to play XIV. Yeah, I'm still pissed about that.

                      Oh, and

That's what your post reminded me of.

But on a serious note... *ahem*

I know your pain. When I first started playing FFXI shortly after release, I resided on Odin and my character's name was Quezacotl. I was attached to the name. I played that account for almost 2 years before I quit.

This was all before the "Return to Vanadiel" thing came about. So when I finally decided in 2006 that I wanted to return, my account was gone. I tried to make a new start. I chose a Taru and plopped him into Bahamut Server and named him Quezacotl. It didn't feel right. I had made him exactly the same way I made the first one... but it felt wrong. Finally after 2 weeks of grinding and making it to level 43, I couldn't stand looking at him anymore. I deleted the character and completely changed it (except for being a taru). I originally wanted to name myself "Yggdrasil", but the name was taken and I opted for Yygdrasil instead. Quez had black hair, so I made Yyg have Blonde. Quez has spikey hair, Ygg got a smooth ponytail. Quez was a WAR/NIN, Yyg became a WHM/BLM. I did everything the opposite so that it felt fresh and new.

Now I don't miss Quez anymore. Yyg has surpassed him in every way. I suggest you do the same, not only does it allow you to come back fresh, but it's liberating.

As for the BANNT issue... I don't know what happened, but its over. You're not the first, or the last person to be shit on by SE. They'll make money weather or not you contribute to it. By not playing, you're only limiting your own fun.

I say you get back in the game and give it another whirl. A lot has changed, and much of it for the better. Given some time, you can move past AKS#1 and embrace a new Character while still imbuing the new new one with the spirit of your original character.

*The smoking man exhales* Yay X-Files!
