The FINAL FANTASY XI community is ever abuzz with discussion on in-game content. The development and operations teams would like to take this opportunity to address some of our fans' most pressing questions and concerns.

*FINAL FANTASY XI will see more frequent version updates in the future, with the introduction of small-scale patches to complement the major releases seen thus far. The first of these is scheduled to take place in mid-February, with further details to be made known via Topics in the coming weeks.

Q: Are there plans to lift level restrictions placed upon battlefields for nation of allegiance missions?

A: Yes. To begin with, we are planning to lift level restrictions currently in place for the battlefields listed below, the implementation of which is expected to take place ahead of the next major version update.
    - San d'Oria: Journey Abroad / The Ruins of Fei'Yin
    - Bastok: The Emissary / Darkness Rising
    - Windurst: The Three Kingdoms / The Final Seal
The lifting of level restrictions is also being considered for certain other quests in the future.

Q: Very few items are being auctioned at each of the three nations, making it difficult to acquire what I need.

A: An auction house merger is in the pipes for the next major version update, which will make it possible for players to bid for and sell a particular item at all auction houses. As this change may profoundly impact the in-game economy and flow of items and gil, due consideration will be given to all aspects of the merger leading up to its implementation.

Q: Will the item awarded for completing the Treasures of Aht Urhgan missions be made reobtainable in the future?

A: Yes. Players will be given the option of reobtaining the reward item ahead of the next major version update.

Q: I'd like to undertake Fields of Valor training regimes more often than once per Vana'diel day.

A: We are moving to abolish the per-day training limit imposed upon Fields of Valor, and expect to be able to deliver this change ahead of the next major version update. The gil and tab reward allocated for the completion of each regime, however, will be issued no more than once per day.

Q: The area surrounding the Port Jeuno NPCs Joachim and Horst is constantly overcrowded. Are there any plans to alleviate this congestion?

A: In the next major version update, we intend to make the popular services offered by these two NPCs available across the three nations and places beyond. In so doing, we hope to resolve the issue of overcrowding in Port Jeuno.

Q: Atma infusion and traverser stone issuance are really bothersome procedures. Can't anything be done to simplify things?

A: For the next major version update, we are considering ways to streamline the atma infusion process, such as introducing a feature whereby players can edit and save their favored atma combinations for later use. With regards to traverser stones, we intend to make them available for collection in bulk. This adjustment we expect to be able to implement ahead of the next major version update.

Q: The WHM job trait Divine Benison sometimes fails to activate for characters equipped with certain combinations of gear. Will this issue be rectified in the near future?

A: Following testing, it has been determined that the above issue occurs for players simultaneously equipped with a Magian trial-enhanced Lv.90 Yagrush and either Orison Pantaloons +1 or Orison Pantaloons +2. This problem will be rectified in the next major version update.

Q: I can't seem to obtain the Shadow Sachet item...

A: Following testing, it has been determined that the Shadow Sachet was not being dropped by certain enemies as intended. This problem will be rectified in the next major version update.

Q: Of all the items used to enhance Empyrean Armor pieces, the Card of Wieldance alone seems rather elusive to obtain. Are there any plans to increase its drop rate?

A: Following testing, it has been determined that the drop rate for the Card of Wieldance is lower than intended. Alongside other cards in the series, this item will be made into a guaranteed drop come the next major version update.

This seems overdue. Although it may have drastically effected the in-game economy back whe the game was new... I think it would be a welcome change that will help current players out... eliminating the need to travel to either Jeuno or WG to auction anything. It might lead certain players to move their HP.

Simply put. Awsome. Putting it on-par with Dominion, this will definately help low level players attain higher levels a lot faster. I can actually look forward to leveling some of my lower jobs now!

Meh... It seems cool for those people with slower PCs, but it might hinder the speed that people find parties. If there isn't a centralized recruitment location like P. Jeuno, it might wind up being mroe bothersome then helpful.

Cool. Doesn't help me much personally... seeing as I'm already always carrying max stones anyway... but cool none-the-less.

All in all, I'm excited. These look like good changes.

Re: The Final Fantasy XI Team Answers Your Questions! (01/20/2011)

I saw this this morning, and was actually just checking to see if it was posted or not.

1: Mini-updates. I'm wondering if this means every month. Supposed to start in February, and seeing as the major updates are quarterly (in this case March), that's probably most likely.

2: Global Auction House. I seem to recall people asking for this a number of years ago, but was always shot down by other member of the community. I suppose it's far more reasonable now that the populations have diminished a bit. Going to make it nice for those who want to have their homepoint in a city, which is more likely with....

3: Abyssea maw teleports in cities. I will always stay in a starter city over WG or Jeuno, so long as the transportation options are the same (since they will always be better in cities for outposts). This will certainly ease the congestion in Jeuno... or at the very least, make it so I never have to deal with that again.

4: Nation level cap removal. FINALLY. This was pretty much the only thing that has kept me from completing Sandy and Bastok missions, because I don't want to switch and find out nobody is willing to help me with those 2 missions. Without the cap, they're very easily soloable. I expect to be rank 10 in all nations within 6 months, solo. Yeay flags!

Everything else is nice, but doesn't effect me very much. FoV will be nice when I want to PL my mules (as I'm slowly working on), and by extension when I get said mules to a level where they can in turn PL my own low level jobs. But that's a very long-term plan I have.

I'm hoping this means BCNMs... omg I'd love to get some of the gear that comes out of those but most people aren't interested in doing them any more or now so spoiled from lvl 90/Abyssea buffs/etc that even thinking of going down to lvl 40 is a reprehensible notion. Besides most have sold off or stored their gear for that lvl of sync. Really crossing my fingers here on BCNMs. I got around 700 Bseals and 200+ Kseals that I'd like to start using again.

I agree about the localization of recruitment... but why the fuck do so many people afk right in front of those NPCs... my radar says there's even more than I actually see as well. Buncha gd fukwitz !!! Getting a bit tired of all the stupid socializing/arguing/elitism in /sh that has muddied up the legit recruitment shouts.

I like the all inclusive AH. This will help newer players make some gil. The changes for FoV also make leveling at low levels a bit better (new players, subs, and taking on a new job). Think it's a good balance that xp won't be limited but gil/tabs are once per day.

Lots of good news in this though. Last round of questions were pretty humdrum and things I really didn't care about ... this session was pretty decent.

Heck yeah, this is going to make XI far more soloable and easier to level quickly, now if only they'd do this for the Guildleves in XIV...and reduce the cost of Guardians Favor, to like 2-4 points instead of 10 per.

How about allowing us to replay mission and quest battlefields by purchasing some sort of 500-1000g item from Moogles or something in the main cities, kupo?

And I suspect the mini-updates will be between each major update, so that's another 4 (though smaller) updates a year. IMO that's the single best piece of news in all of this. I've been wanting SE to do something like this for a long time to stem the boredom/anticipation between major updates.

Also YAY for not having to fly to jeuno to use the AH when my HP is in San d'Oria. Wonder how they're going to adjust the taxes though.

Why fly? Why not just pay the 300 Gil, warp to WG and then use the NPC to warp to Jeuno for 1 Imp. Silver Piece? It'll cost you just under 1,500 gil... but it's way faster than just taking the airship.

I was doing that until I noticed Gold Imp. Pcs. selling for 20k ... f that... I need gilz!!! I'd rather get on a airship and afk or BS with my LS than spend that kinda gil when I don't need to... but I HP'd myself into P. Jeuno for the first time ever. Can't wait for that portion of the update so I can easily get from OPs to Aby-warps. That was really good news.

Well what I do right now is this. I keep my HP at P. Jeuno. If I want to go to Bastok, I teleport myself to one of the crystals, use the FoV book (because I have over 20k tabs) and repatrition myself there. If I want to go to WG, I do the same thing, and then use the NPC to poof me to WG from P. Basty for only 300 gil. With Jeuno being the center of the world at the moment, it just makes sense for me to do it that way. It allows me access to everything I need at any time I need to.

Repatirition also drops me right infront of the OP warp NPC, which helps for speedy transit.

It wasnt until a few months before I quit... some 2 years ago... that I learned from a LS buddy about the Nation ---> WG warp quest.

                            This was me:

Shihu-Danhu hasn't been captured. You usually end up right outside Jeuno, in Ru'lude Gardens, or 1/2 way through the tunnel in Qufim which is the worst one, but meh...it was free!
