FINAL FANTASY XI Official Web Site

All out of space in your Mog Safe to accommodate that sorely needed panetiere? Mog satchel near to bursting at the seams? Fret no more, for the fast-approaching version update will usher in additional item storage features that will have adventurers kissing their storage woes goodbye!

    Introducing the Mog Sack!
Humble in name but as equal to the task as its satchel counterpart, the mog sack will allow adventurers to stow and retrieve their personal belongings regardless of location. Sack capacity will correspond to a character's gobbiebag size, and may be expanded up to a maximum of 80 slots.

You can become the proud owner of your very own mog sack simply by purchasing it from the altruistic moogle posted at one of the locations listed below for the affordable price of 9,980 gil. Characters need not possess a mog satchel to qualify for mog sack ownership.

    Southern San d'Oria (M-6)
    Bastok Markets (H-7)
    Windurst Woods (G-10)
    Ru'Lude Gardens (I-9)

    Introducing the Porter Moogle!
Ever showing concern for the storage plight of adventurers, the Mog House Management Union has decided to kick off its very own porter service. MHMU-certified Porter Moogles will soon be dispatched to the areas listed below to provide storage services for some of your most prized gear, such as those of the Artifact and Relic persuasions, as well as pieces acquired via Limbus and Salvage forays. But that's not where it ends! As Porter Moogles undergo constant and rigorous training, adventurers can expect the service to encompass an even greater range of gear in the future.

Porter Moogles will be happy to accept individual pieces and even upgraded items into their safekeeping. Adventurers wishing to store items may do so by purchasing corresponding storage slips from the moogle. Expected to cost approximately 1000 gil apiece, each slip can be reused to store and retrieve items an infinite number of times.

    Northern San d'Oria (K-8)
    Bastok Markets (I-9)
    Port Windurst (L-6)
    Lower Jeuno (I-6)
    Tavnazian Safehold (F-8)
    Aht Urhgan Whitegate (I-11)

    -------------------------------------------

Okay, that settles it. Best Update EVER!

Re: Kiss Your Storage Woes Goodbye! (11/19/2010)

I heard a rumor about something like this the other day, but I didn't want to say anything about it because both 1) SE doing something this useful can be hard to believe, but 2) storage is a real problem these days with all the new rare/ex stuff, and especially augmented stuff which apparently wouldn't work with SE's old storage system, so they had to do something. I have had not zero, but negative interest in the new Abyssea AF because of the inventory space problems. Getting Mog Lockers for my mules helped a bit, but there's still a lot of furniture and rare/ex items taking up space on my main.

I am not surprised that it's not "Mog Satchel for everyone", but something new in addition to Mog Satchel. Sure, that was an incentive to get people to use the security token, but I am firmly convinced that it was also an attempt to get more people to sign up for an SE account. (Remember, you essentially can't sell your account once it's bound to an SE account, and I'm sure they want to make it harder to sell accounts because of RMT.) You can unlink and throw away the token, but you can't un-register that SE account. Same with the moogle drawing last winter (which I missed because I took those three months off) but you had to register for an SE account to even qualify. So for now, Mog Satchel is only for people who have signed up for an SE account. And I am just paranoid enough not to want to do that.

But they had to do something. And we have known for a long time that "PS2 Limitations" means you can have more inventory groups, but each one is limited to 80 items. I have no problem now with satchel people getting another 80 because 240 just doesn't cut it. I can live with 320 and them at 400, especially if this new Mog Sack can be used in the field just like Satchel. And for 10K gil? That's just a sneeze to anyone with that much inventory. Now to finish upgrading the gobbiebags on my mules!

That, but also, people with satchels are still running into trouble with all the post-75 gear, not to mention upgrade seals/coins/cards/etc. (Worse if they're still carrying around a mixed assortment of luminian organs, limbus materials, ancient beastcoins, and similar stuff related to level 75ish gear.) So the sack will help everyone regardless of whether they have a satchel, without completely removing the incentive to get a satchel. (Getting the token once gives all of your mules a satchel for no in-game cost, but it looks like each mule will have to buy his/her own sack. Good thing there are vendors in the starting cities too.)

Being able to store individual af/af+1/af2/af2+1 pieces would have gone a long way toward helping that anyway, but the sack in addition to that is just great. And it looks like that picture also shows Homam, Denali, and a couple of abj sets (in addition to mentioning Salvage in the text), so it's pretty close to all level 75 formerly-endgame stuff (there's no mention of assault points gear or the level 68 allied notes rare/ex sets, but honestly, between sacks and the amount of storage already going to be freed up by this system, who cares?)

Artifact, Relic, Salvage, Limbus, and, from the picture, abjuration, too. And, can store as individual pieces.

              Wow.

              ...

Darn it. I guess I'll have to schedule Dreamworld Dynamis runs after all. Relic +1 can be stored...

Edit: Is that the Denali Jacket set? Not familiar enough with it to be sure. I guess Nyzul armor sets can be stored as well.

No negatives to this what so ever, funnie thing, they even gave a shout out to Bluegartr and said that the dev team does infact read all the ffxi forums.

@ Feba, apparently the game is coded for PS2 so that the maximum amount of items displayed on screen at any given time is 160... dunno if that's just b.s. fluff but supposedly that's why their expanding inventory with other "bags" instead of just "bigger" bags.

Seriously, the guys running the show for FFXI now are on point, it's like they got called up from the minors because the 1st, 2nd, 3rd string QB's got hurt, and they had to start against the worst defense in the league and they show up on game day and do nothing but perform and play like a seasoned vetran.

IF i were going to ask them for anything it would be:

                1. Make the boss mobs in Hero's hard as fuck!
                2. DO NOT STOP MAKING CONTENT AFTER ABYSSEA
                3. possibly add 2-4 new job styles, I personally think there's alot that can still be done with TP and with MP

@ Elwynn, Sign up for an SE account, it's sorta like an x-box live account as it offers some nice things with all of SE's products not just 11 or 14
I'd say get a token also, but that's a whole nother story, dunno your finances, location, etc.

Yay for more storage! Now I can have a medicine bag in addition to my fishing bag.

Boo for more moogles instead of NPCs (although it actually fits here, since they've handled inventory stuff for us in the past).

If there was one thing I'd ask for that would be adding solo mode to storyline missions and quests, for me and many others who can't get a party to get them done.

They can even make it so people doesn't get any reward items unless they clear the fights in Party mode, to keep others from whinning about them making it "too easy"

I'm fairly excited that the moogles will be able to hold upgraded/non NQ items. I think it's safe to say that it will include AF3+1/+2 in the near future, if not right off the bat.

The way it's phrased, though, makes it seem like it's a different system than the current NPC storage system, where you buy the right to store it up front and it may be a one-time cost -- any thoughts on that, or am I just hallucinating?

Also... if the moogles can hold relic/AF, will that mean the other (current) storage NPC will be relegated to uselessness with NQ low-level sets?

So happy that now I don't have to toss out all that campaign armor I bought or my unfinished relic armors that are sitting in storage...

In retrospect though, what the fuck took so long? I have passed on upgrading so much AF1 to +1 status it isn't funny because of storage woes, god damn you SE. Plus did anyone happen to read that last part, which to me was again, something that should have been fixed ages ago? You pay a one-time only fee of 1000 gil per item! So it'll cost me 5k per set, but then I can take out and then put it back as much as I want instead of constantly paying the stupid storage NPC's fees.
