1: I think the game has a lot of life in it. This game isn't going anywhere soon.

2: I remember somewhere they said they will continue to support FFXI as long as people continue to play FFXI. So, thats really a maybe.

3: Servers are fairly populated. Most of the people are high levels, and finding a group to do stuff should be easier since people are now level 75-85 (I'd say about 65% of any server is within that level range.)

4: You can restart, but you will need to do Solo/Duo/Trio inorder to level up. You can find groups for leveling with level sync, but its still fairly hard. You can also leech in a Abyssea party being a key master once you hit level 30, or have a LS that does abyssea, and ask if you can leech off them for a little while.

1) As long as it's profitable then Squeenix will keep supporting it. Between the subs from two MMOs I can see both games having a fairly long lifespan.

2) I wouldn't be so sure about new expansion packs though they do release new mission packs fairly regularly. However, I would hardly call them expansions as they rarely seem to have more than 4 or so hours of content and tend to be padded by farming and gathering quests (Crystalline Prophecy and Moogle Kupo d'etat were notorious for this).

3) After the server merges I'd assume the population is good.

4) If you play one of the following: Bard, Red Mage, Corsair, Paladin, Scholar, Samurai, Dark Knight then carry on playing. If you play any other class then restart as one of the above classes, they're the only ones worth playing anymore. Dragoons and Rangers might still get invites though Samurai can do everything you do as well as you do.

Not gonna lieâ€¦youâ€™ll probably have a rough time. I think itâ€™s mostly high levels nowâ€¦ but I wouldnâ€™t go as far to say there is no hope for lowbies. Youâ€™ll need to do more solo/duo/trioing. Sitting in town looking for a party just doesnâ€™t really work at low levels anymore imo. It used to work at lvl 12 for astral burns but I donâ€™t think thatâ€™s popular anymore. You can probably get a quick invite at 37 ish for East Ron [s] partiesâ€¦but other than thatâ€¦itâ€™s back to solo/duo. There are lots of things to help you on your way though (Field of Valor pages and XP rings)

I disagree 100%...but to each his own I guess. I for the most part soloâ€™d Bst, Blm and Pup. I did some Soloing on Smn as well back in the day. All 4 of those jobs get me plenty of action these days in both LS and nonLS events.

I have to say this, the entire point of the game is to reach endgame. It's like a race, you start out at one line and the point is to get to the other. So, in the end, yes the game is full of high levels since thats the goal. The nice thing about FFXI is that lots of people are constantly reaching endgame and then starting another job. The party dynamics of the game have changed though. You will be solo/duo/trio'ing a lot of the lower levels.

The way SE (still) forces you to party for many important quests and missions you need as you level up for the first time really takes a lot of fun out of leveling in a game that would be much better off without the retarded restrictions.

Or maybe it's just my frustration for not being able to get missions and scenarios done due to a complete lack of people to party with, let alone not being able to replay the fights you enjoy.

Nothing like needing the help of a high lvl player or two for some of the Genkai and AF quests (in which you'll be just an observer of the fight while others have the fun killing the mob for your quest) to make your leveling up more boring that it already is.

While I agree that doing these things can be a challenge, I don't agree with just rounding up some level 75+ to get them done. One of the biggest advantages in the game is your LS. If you don't have one, can't find one, or whatever, then you can make your own. Either way it takes time and effort to get things done in the game and THAT is what makes the game so rewarding. I did most things in FFXI by doing them with other people around my level, the way it was meant to be done. I realize that its more of a challenge now with a lower population, but its not impossible. And I realize that what I've said will fall upon deaf ears because it so much easier to just round up some high level person and have them slaughter whatever you need done.

I seriously doubt finding a full party of people needing things like the genkai in Xarcabard will happen often, if at all. Heck it wasn't easy 7 years ago when I started playing but at least you'd find people trying to do the same quests as you from time to time.

And unless your LS friends want to sync with you for the challenge there isn't much hope on doing things another way nowadays. Who knows though, maybe if he can get the right LS things will go smoother.

But I'm probably the last person who should give an opinion on Linkshells, since my luck with them has been pretty awful except for the very first LS I joined.

Moral of the story: I'm much better on my own.

They've dummied down lots of missions so that you can do it without a full party. Then add in the fact that people can synch down and there are plenty of changes to help facilitate a better chance at accomplishing things. Of course, FFXI is a game where SE wants people to work together to accomplish things.

That maybe so, but SE has to learn that its getting harder for people to find a group to level up and needs to do something about it so that people can level easier.

And they even need to give people a reason to do the low level content as well.

Yeah, which is why I usually get bored of the game the moment I finish my trials.

I think the time it's nearing for me to quit XI for good. Can't really justify playing XI just for the trials and the few other things I can do on my own. And I'm certainly not interested in any way on suffering yet more frustrations with LS crap.

It's a shame really, I love playing RDM and I love XI's world, the story and quest/missions. But SE's way manages to suck the fun out the game for me every single time I come back.

well thank you all for the feedback the highest level character ive ever had though was an 18 or something for my xbox which i heard you can use that POL account on a pc so i might do that but i personally would rather party with other people it made it fun for me when i did...and was the main form of leveling in FFXI just straight grinding with parties? or were there quests and stuff i dont remember since its been 4 years since ive played lol

Lower leveling is made almost entirely solo possibly as far as lvl 30+.

But who knows, maybe parties still happen. It's just that at least in my case I usually end up getting a higher xp/hr rate on my own at that level.

What sort of LS crap are you dealing with? Just curious, I honestly, love playing RDM as there is always something you can be doing, and with the advent of Abyssea, it's so easy for your LS to basically get some some really nice gear, for alot of people by just focusing on one person at a time.

I mean. Honestly, we had a guy who was up for a relic, he wanted an amano, and then they realized that Masmune (new empyrean weapon) basically rapes Amano, inside abyssea, and often outside of abyssea also. He needed 50 Carabosse Gems, and 50 Orobon tentacle things.

We started like... Wensday? or Tuesday? of last week. He's Almost done (34 Carabosse gems, 20+ Orobon thingies) and he''ll be doing like 5k WS's on EXP mobs ROFL and it's going to take like 3-4 weeks. I understand you feel more comfortable on your own, but most of the endgame stuff now is about having 5-10 dedicated friends, to litterly "go adventure" with /shrug.

I post because It makes me sad to see people getting bored with the game, when litterly I feel like I just started playing recently... I dunno ^^ just typing/thinking outloud

I agree. We have a close group of 5-8 people (once in a while some other tagalongs) and we go kill Abyssea NMs pet style. Weâ€™re all pretty close/long time game friends so we just lot what we comment. So nice that we all get along and no one cries about points.

I have yet to get really bored with this game but Abyssea has added so much fun for me.

Thereâ€™s only 2 things I would change about abyssea
1) Wish I could solo Time Extensions.
2) Wish there was another Abysitte of Sojourn (which might happen in Dec.)
