Why would you pronounce it Bah-hah-mit instead of baham-ut - three syllables, syllable one and two flow quickly together, stress on the 'm' and then ut as a soft u like put.

This is how I've always pronounced it, and fuck yes, I'm not crazy.

Most of these are how I've pronounced them anyway. Especially the French looking ones, because I took French for four years and I just saw the French in those names and ran with it.

Honestly, I'm more interpreting this particular set of kana of "bo-suh-deen." The "su" might supposed to be a bit more emphasized than you're giving it credit for, and the "u" part of that could just be a placeholder for the "É™" sound.

if that were the case I am pretty sure the ス would've been a サ. The sound is far closer, and -u endings are very very commonly assumed to be dropped.

I hated being on vent and someone asking "Where are you going?" and then telling them. It never failed that some a-hole had to come forward like a f**king English teacher and berate you for not properly pronouncing (in his opinion) the name of the place. I got into the habit of making up names for places like Uggala-boogala (Uggalepih) or Fulcrum (Valkurm) or RollMyBerries (Rolanberry) just to annoy these a-holes. I don't mind if you say "Oh is that how you pronounce it? I usually say <insert pronunciation here>." but to go "Oh I hate it when people don't pronounce it right! It's pronounced <insert nasal a-hole voice here>. /heavy uppity sigh" really chaps my hide.

When my son was little he used to pronounce Chocobos - CoCo (like CoCo Puffs) Bows (Ranger Weapon). So thats how we say it now regardless of how many people rant at us that we are totally wrong....besides it sounds better! lol

"Boss-deen" still doesn't sound right for the Roman spelling. Well, at least if you pronounced it like a mobster named "Boss Dean."

That's correct. I suppose maybe I should've written it as "Bohss-deen", I'm just used to always assuming "O" to mean that sound as that's how it works in romanized Japanese.
