if the OP is still here mine runs on Windows 7 Pro 64 + Quad Core processor + 4 gigs of ram with no issues like that I just can't get the game to run in high-res mode but I blame it on the somewhat crappy onboard Radeon HD 4200 video card(I lack the $$$ to put a good one in but I'll get to it).

Calling SE's Support? Didn't help me with this and really I just consider my issue to be a minor annoyance since I can't make FFXI look as good as it should with the hardware I have(at the time the HDMI sound cut out in high res mode which I sorta fixed with a set of cheap speakers). The tech support rep told me that SE "Didn't Support 64-bit operating systems" and that I should "call the PC manufacturer". I didn't really finish the call but the rep sorta laughed at me when I said "unfortunately that would be me because it's a custom"...after this I decided to live with my minor issue until I can get a better Radeon...

BTW: I heard Nvidia's drivers espc. for high end cards had issues vs FFXI until recently...
