Has anyone else received this email?

"Dear valued FINAL FANTASY XI player:

Square Enix is committed to protecting your user information.  We have just been alerted to a potential breach of Square Enix’s secure systems from an external source.  This may have resulted in the disclosure of a limited number of PlayOnline IDs, passwords and user account data.  However, since your PlayOnline ID is linked to your SQUARE ENIX Account, your PlayOnline account was not compromised as a result of the potential breach.  Please be assured that your credit card data has not been compromised.  We are taking this matter very seriously and are conducting a full investigation.

As a precaution we are notifying you of this potential breach.  As always, please be on the alert for any “phishing” emails that ask you for any personal or financial information.  This e-mail has been sent out for your information only.  Please do not reply to this e-mail address.

I was having log-in and staying logged in issue for the last two days. I just thought it was my god morsaken piece of shit internet, but now i'm thinking this might be the cause. is anyone else have same issues i've been having the last 2 days?

If that's the case then technically Linked accounts shouldn't have any problems. Surprised I didn't get this email.

Because said PlayOnline account information can be linked to personal identifying data. The form letter matches exactly what a company is required to send out when a breach is thought to have occurred where information like credit card numbers, addresses, names and the like may have been exposed.

If you play or played FFXI, SE has more then just your character data sitting around, so it's more a question as to how the data was exposed.

Thinking about this more though, given the timing, it's probably related to this http://www.ffxionline.com/forums/com...edentials.html meaning that TGM has or had at one time a keylogger on her machine, or otherwise gave out her information.

Okay that does make more sense. I was just thinking User IDs/Passwords, in which case they would not be able to access my personal information because you can't even get into POL if you're banned.

Either way, this is pretty huge. This would be the first time I've ever heard of SE having a breach on their own end. I hope they can get it sorted out quickly for those who are affected.
