What do you think will be required to go above 75?

Someone on the wiki forum threads came up with "cap all your skills at 75", which sounds cool until you think about it. I've been wanting to cap Throwing on my WHM for a long time. But just try capping Shield, Parry, and Guard on whichever jobs have access to them.

My crazy idea: nation flags. One flag and you can get to 80, two flags and you get to the middle cap (90?), three flags and you get to 99. This would encourage people to finish the damn nation storylines already, and would be a god-tier troll by SE since I bet a lot of 75 players haven't even changed nations once.

There are four flags if you count WoTG, so the Jeuno flag could even be used as a bonus flag, but since it requires WoTG, I don't think they'd require it.

More of the same that they did for the others. Grab these items, kill these nm's. I don't expect there will be much imagination behind them.
I use a Mac because I'm just better than you are.

I dislike your idea of multiple flags because it would require me to renounce my loyalty to Bastok. Requiring people to do finish storyline missions might not be all that bad though.

If they really wanted to just fuck with us they'd require us to defeat Absolute Virtue or something equally obnoxious.

Or they could do something totally off the wall and require some sort of really low level quest like Eco-Warrior. You know, something to instill a sense of humility before they propel us onward to god-like status.

That would be a good idea though. No one really does those quests. To get past 75, you gotta do Eco-Warrior in all three beggining nations. To get past 80, you need to talk to all the leaders in all three nations, and kill a certain NM for them to allow you to get past 80. Past 85 would be Collect X items from certain places. And so on.

Could have sworn the new level cap quests are coming in with the new add-ons.

          Here's my speculation:

The three zones we can't access from the present day are the Abyssea content zones:

          Fort Karugo-Narugo
          Vunkerl Inlet
          Grauberg

And since Maat always has something to do with genkai, I'm pretty sure as we buy the add-ons, he'll have a quest related to them. Guy's gotta keep his day job, he ain't gonna let you young whipper-snappers outpace him.

I too dislike the nation quest bit. Fkt up enough as it is that they screwed people outta the moggiebag cuz they aren't with Windy or have Tavnazia access. Not me. I got mine last night. But I feel sorry for the many who cannot get it.

I'm thinking along the same lines as the other limit breaks. Despite what others have stated in other threads I think these level caps will be tied to the Abbyssea mini-spansions. It seems too convenient that every level cap coincides with a release of a these new minispansions. Personally I'm hoping for more of a Limit Breaker like the gathering of Kseals opposed to the Magicite area re-hash. Or the first'ish one out in Xarcabard where you fight a few interesting NMs.

I wouldn't put it past SE to make that last cap to 99 be something insanely crazy... like fighting Maat riding upon Bahamut spam-spawning mini-Absolute Virtues while bereft of /subjob and gear and only abe to use onion weapons.

Seriously, I really don't see why people have a problem with temporarily switching nations to actually finish content.

However, in the specific case of the Moggiebag, to switch and switch back you're going to pay anywhere from 12k to 52k (or 8k if you wait a week and are lucky) for... a posible average return of 40k gil... over a period of 21 days. Luckily Windurst is in 3rd place on Sylph this week and I don't need to switch back until I find a 5-1/5-2 run, so only 4k gil for me.

Cuz it's a royal pain in the ass and costs gil for no reason; and, as you pointed out that cost can be up to 52k. I can think of many other things I'd rather spend my gil on. I know after Windy I'm NOT going for Basty... I could care less about that place's story. I also don't wish to undergo the torture of having no OPs yet again... or C.P. And Basty never has any good OPs. When you have to pay so much to switch, it detracts from the main reason people actually want to switch. Which has nothing to do with completion and everything to do with the gil rewards from getting ranks. If you pay for a rank 1 change, you don't even break even until like rank 5 or 6.... maybe. I have no way to look up the numbers but I've been fairly disappointed by what I've gotten getting to Windy rank 6.

We'll see... I really hope it's along the lines of Kseals. But, I'm prepared to be Squeenixt in any case. I'm still holding to my "it's gonna have something if no everything to do with Abbyssea minispansions" and am quite willing to eat crow later on if that doesn't end up being the case.

You're right, that is crazy. It's also pretty terrible. I finished my nation's storyline, but I couldn't give a rat's ass about those other nation's problems.

I would be doing Eco war's weekly if they didn't have that god damned restriction in place where you can't do one if you accepted another nation's version. Either let us cancel the one we picked or let us do it in any damn dungeon we want. I still have that damn windy version quest in my log because I could never find enough people who didn't already pick one of the other two Eco wars.

Plus, that quest is so easy to cheat it's not funny.

Unless you have a ToAU or WotG job, then he just stops caring.

Chances are, there won't be any actual quests or anything, just talk to XX npc and voila, you can level up. That's pretty much how SE said they would do it this time.

If by that, you mean that they'll happen co-chronologically, then yes. However:

I believe that you are misled. S-E has already stated that purchase of the Abyssea add-ons would be entirely unnecessary to receive the increase in the level cap.

For whom this is too difficult to comprehend, you remember Fields of Valor and Treasure Caskets, that occurred in co-chronological updates? In spite of what was speculated by some (that Treasure Casket appearance was dependent on having registered for a training regime), the two systems ended up being entirely independent of each other. Just because something happens at the same time, does not necessarily mean that they are related.

Its nice lip service, but how would you plan to get to 99 without the zones to gain them in?

I don't think CoP Zones and WotG Northlands are going to be the new EXP hotspots, nor do I think the ToA burn camps will be sustainable to 99. The CoP Zones are challenging under the caps, but without them, they're going to scale 60ish tops.

Personally, my favorite was the one where you just get a couple hints and have to use your knowledge of the world to get through. Of course everybody just looks that up and forgets it immediately, but if you approach it properly it's a pretty great idea.

As for breaking 75, I'd like to see a quest series that involves joining a cult.
