I didn't know where I should post this, and hopefully the answer is not somewere else in the forum. I have virtually no problems with my connectivity in ffxi. I can count on one hand the times I have disconnected while playing, and still have fingers left. Except when it comes to besieged. When I first started doing beseiged, I would get through the whole thing and then when it ended it would disconnect before giving my xp and I would get ripped off and get no xp. After three times of it doing this, I gave up on it. A while later, I got stuck in besieged by accident (I went to use the free jeuno warp dude and it was on) and seemed to work fine, I finished and got xp. So I've gone back a couple times and given it another chance and then last night I got disconnected right in the middle of it. I logged back on and finished it off. I got 1200xp for it. My queston after this long winded explanation:
Did I get credit for the stuff I did before I got disconnected? If a person were to fight for a while, then warp home, and come back to al-zahbi after and the fight still is going, is credit still going from before or just the fight after returning.

Also, I have done lots of campagining, and there is lots going on there, and never get disconnected there.
Anyone else getting disconnected in beseiged only?

First of all, if you get "stuck" in Besieged, go northwest out the gates. The west gate is probably safer for getting back to Whitegate once you get out. The second best plan is to just die and home point. You will lose no XP, just your location, so it's not all that bad. If your HP isn't Whitegate you will be out a mere 300 gil. And you may not have noticed, but it is not possible to set your HP in Al Zahbi.

Once you disconnect, crash, whatever, your XP reward is reset when you return. It's just that you can get a decent percentage of the XP cap back in 5-10 minutes. Also, if you are dead when it ends, you get no XP but you still get the IS. (Normally you get the same amount of IS as XP.) The IS reward can be worth 10-20k gil if you buy imperial silvers and bazaar them in front of the paid warp taru.

The problem is that crashes tend to happen in the last ten minutes of the battle, after the big monsters appear. (360 is the worst, PS2 is not as bad, turning on as many effects filters as you can helps.) Then it takes two minutes to get logged back on, by which time the battle could be over.

And you may not have noticed, but it is not possible to set your HP in Al Zahbi.

Wasn't there an HP crystal they removed awhile back there? I remember some talk of people being super careful not to set HP anywhere else because they wanted to keep it there.

I don't think there was a crystal, but you could set it outside the MH after you changed jobs for sure. If there was a crystal, it would basically be the same thing, and they removed all forms of setting your HP at the same time.
