I know these topics have been done to death, but bear with me. 1. Can I assume Odin is still the most populous realm? If so, is it still locked to new people? And if that's the case, what's second best? 2. Regardless of server, are any of you aprt of Linkshell's willing to take in an on again off again FFXI vet who's likely to ask many dumb questions due to being away fro so long?

There was just a major server merge so population data has certainly changed. I don't play anymore, but I've read that populations are high on most servers again, so if you're looking for a big population you can go pretty much anywhere.

As for a linkshell, since I don't play, I can't offer you one (obviously) but I'm sure there will be someone around here who will gladly take you in.

The servers after that probably have the most North American/European population. Asura being the most popular server as of right now in that group. The population data is from FFXIAH, the server creation dates are from FFXI Wiki.

FFXI Total Players, All Servers: 1,326,564 Characters (-354,073 change from 03/18/2010),/ 308,628 Active Characters (-24,481 change from 03/18/2010).
^ Doesn't count those that haven't accessed Jeuno Auction House, level 20 and below possibly. This is just number of characters and not number of registered accounts. Also results may be lower because of the merge dropping unused characters and also RMT accounts.

Aion Total Players, All Servers: 56,110 Active Legions (+10,225 change from 01/01/2010)
^ Taken from Aion's main website. The Live Status reflects the number of legions per side. Hard to say how many characters per legion and whether or not it's total number of legions or active legions. Will look for Aion population information on the side though.

World of Warcraft Total Players, All Server: 5,926,249 Characters (+495,853 change from 01/01/2010)
^ Taken from Warcraft Census website, doesn't include people lower than level 10. Also this doesn't differentiate between registered accounts and one account with many characters. Account number is probably a lot lower than this.
