Wow, you people are so harsh when some one calls the character toon. Because thats what it actually is as well.

From what I've seen on Youtube of WoW's cartoony graphics (not to mention the total banishment of T-squares from the world), I think WoWers can be forgiven for becoming attached that term. And apparently their 3rd person view can go to a higher angle, making everyone look even more like plastic toys.

Since I can change jobs this early on, I will definatly take the advice of trying them all.. Whats the best for solo leveling?

I think of the original 6 the one I solo'd the quickest to 10 was War.

I'll also add that the higher you go, soloing is mostly about your Support Job with /whm, /dnc, and /bst being the most popular. Fyi Dnc sucks as a Support Job until your main is level 30.

No, it isn't. Cartoons are at a minimum defined as drawings. Characters are 3D models. The process is very different, and far closer to painting a sculpture than to cartoons.

Also, simplest analogy: People have been using the term 'Information Super Highway' for well over a decade. If you say this term today, you are an asshole. Even if you use it ironically, you are an asshole, because even the ironic usage has been overdone to hell.

The oldest online, multi-player RPG I've ever seen was Moria (created in 1975!). The characters were referred to as ... 'characters'.

Guess I can't hide the fact that those games didn't hold my interest much now. lol.

I haven't played FFXI since CoP and I can't believe the whole "toon" thing still drives people nuts.

Anywho...in an attempt to drag this thread back to its OP, I too have returned from a long stretch of WoW to play FFXI again.

Although I have played before, I'm starting from scratch on Asura. Hope to see you there on my "character" named Piroko.

1) Samurai is hardly overplayed.
2) Make your own parties, stop complaining about slow invites.
3) Any job can be useful endgame
4) It's your $12.95 a month, play the game the way you want.

Fixed that for you. It may be one person's $12.95 a month, but when your stupidity and hardheadedness affects my fun, it's my $12.95 you're affecting, too. Solo to your heart's content with unconventional crap but bring your A-game to events.
