I admittedly have the "wtf is this person about" factor going for me. I'm also a known advocate for COR in various circles, having written a guide and been on a podcast a couple times got my name around. So I have a different situation in that respect.

I don't understand that though. I solo as Sam/Dnc with my flag up in campaign for about three hours, then as soon as I change to something like /nin, I get invites.

Well that's because you're being a SAM/DNC in campaign. They can just move along to the nearest SAM seeking as a /NIN. Support classes generally will get more attention, doesn't matter what they're subbing. Melee are a dime a dozen.

If they've got their RDM, BRD or COR they just go about filling out the party with the closest available melee. Campaign is "too far away" in their minds, even if you still have your HP set in Whitegate.

Since I can change jobs this early on, I will definatly take the advice of trying them all.. Whats the best for solo leveling?

I would recommend unlocking your sub-job before attempting to try out all the other beginning jobs. The extra stats will definitely help you out while experimenting. Warrior is the default melee sub-job until around the 20s, and White Mage tends to be the default mage sub-job, though Blm and Rdm do have their uses.

Well, that is stupid then. People need to learn to be lenient with others, and learn that people can warp to WG in an instant if they get a party invite. Or read other people's comments.

Good luck getting invites at all on any job lately. I can count on one hand the number of parties I've had in the last week on corsair for merits and dancer for levelling.

Ha ha, I'm starting to get the random tells now that my RDM is getting up in the levels. I was even helping someone get to the NIN unlock quest area in Kor. Tunnel when I (a RDM 59) got a /tell asking if I was pulling. >.<

That's one nice thing about idling as BLM 75, for sure. Nobody asking if you'll come to their party to be the one doing the busy work while they hit a WS every minute or two.

As someone else said, first unlock that subjob quest. You will need people to help you, but people will usually offer when they see you at 18 with no subjob. And the Selbina choice of the two quests is better for various reasons. The thing you will need help for is the skull.

These days, most jobs can do a decent job of soloing on "easy prey" (which give 30-79xp each) or stronger by using the Field Manuals to do a once per hour list of stuff to kill. Of the initial six, BLM is probably the hardest for an inexperienced player, and WHM has a hard time killing anything stronger than easy prey. RDM is a pretty decent solo job, but it's also one that others want you as too much for their parties.

Of the other jobs, I hear that Bard is probably the least capable solo job, and most of the pet jobs (BST, SMN, PUP) can do a decent job of solo, though they are more complicated to play. However, BST is generally not wanted at all in party play for various reasons, while SMN does quite well.

Also, go to ffxiclopedia.org and look around a bit. This wiki is basically the primary guide to the game and how to get stuff done.

I think the problem isn't helped by being on EU hours as Mhurron mentioned. During the daytime the Japanese simply don't invite any longer regardless of job I'm seeking on or seacom message. It's even more frustrating when I see the makings of a full party seeking for hours on end and they either just ignore my requests to form a party or I receive, [English][That's too bad] or [English][Thanks for the offer but I'll have to pass]. On the evenings I generally do events but even attendance on those has dropped off considerably to the point where they're being cancelled. On the evenings I do flag up the issue is the same regardless. I've put around three levels on dancer, it's 63 now, in the last fortnight with a combination of two really bad parties and FoV with a little Campaign in there. Doesn't fill me with excitement at the prospect of hitting 75 sometime around December.

Because people are too ignorant & lazy to ask if you can sub NIN? /NIN is for sissies anyway, the best merit PT have /WAR, /SAM (or in the case of SAM) /DRG subs for the DD and pull 35k/hour or more because mobs die in 2~10 seconds (and no I'm not exaggerating) RDM BRD COR SAM SAM SAM (or 1 DRG) all with polearm and you're good.
