You can macro in Skulker's Cape, which can be purchased through the AH, and it increases sneak and inivisible duration times.

When I did G3 I honestly didn't even care if I got aggro, as long as I got the key item. So what if I died? I'd get it back. Though on a first job it's a bit disheartening. Still, let the mobs kill me, I got what I came for.

I agree with this... but (and maybe this is totally off the OPs topic) status bolts, specifically sleep bolts, break that mold. If I'm paying a premium on bolts, shouldn't they stick?? I'm soooooo tired of solo'n on my Thf and hitting SA right as the GD mob wakes up...

I've seen thfs die because of this. Something aggros them, and they hit them with a sleep bolt, and continue to fight the current mob, then the one they hit wakes up, and kills them. They work great for when you need like 2-3 seconds of space between you and the mob though lol.

Just get a skulker's cape like mezlo said. If you don't want to pay for that, then go farming or something.

I think people spend so much time trying not to die that they get too tense. That's what ends up getting them killed before they get to where they need to go.

And yeah, so long as you tag that point, does it really matter if you die? Small setback when you consider the goal you're accomplishing.

Get used to it. The spells are random for a reason. Saying it's proof of SE's "bad design" is like a fat dude blaming McDonalds for making them fat when all they eat is double cheesburgers. Plenty of advice has been given as far as what your alternatives are, and if all else fails and you die, OH WELL! GET OVER IT ITS ONLY EXP for which there is an unlimited supply of in the game. SHEESH.

I rarely had issues with dying and it wasn't because I was a mage either, I had melee jobs on another character too. You just learn. You learn that when that first warning comes up that you start looking for a safe nook to snuggle up to and reapply your sneak/invis. If you wait until that 3rd warning then you're an idiot.

It's just not that hard. The problem is with melees/tanks that have to buy their pots (most of the time), they don't want to waste any so they push it. Hey I understand and I sympathize. What I would sometimes do is have a mage friend (or quickly make a new mage friend lol) go along and stick to them like GLUE. Have MACROS that state my <whatever spell> is wearing off and tell them the FIRST time it says so. And if they get aggro don't be a douche and run off or let them die, try to kill it/tank it and they will hopefully try to sleep it or heal you. But with mages that let it wear off, its either stupidity or ego.

Of course if you're really worried you could always have a RR item handy. Then die in a safe spot, get up after everything depops, sneak up and run like hell! I've done that a few too many times to count, too.

We talking the spot in Castle O ??

Yeah... I had solo'd Beadeaux and Davoi on my own and was attempting to do so in Castle O but a group came across me and asked if I wanted to join... OF COURSE I DO, OMG... I was so happy I didn't continue reading about it on the wiki-page and when we got to the room I was told the wrong spot to go when we reached that ??? area. The "leader" told me to go to the top, so I did. Like ... the very top of the room. Got killed by another TrueSight NM. They were all like "wtf" "where are you?" ... at the top ... like you had told me to go. He felt bad and had to have me HP, then got me there again. Good guys, lol.

Don't you love that ... you get the message that their sneak/invis wore, THEN they tell you ... or vice versa with bare seconds between. So you get them to a "safe" spot (which isn't half as safe as it could be if they'd given more warning), risk yourself casting their sneak/invis, reapply to yourself, then go off to find the NEXT person who just aggroed something and died because they didn't bother to bring meds and you were busy with the first...

Is everyone sure unfixed sneak and ivis timers aren't just intentional artificially inflated difficulty on Squeenix's part like they do for everything else?

Yes, because if you could time sneak/invis, there'd be no difficulty at all. People would have prepared maps showing how to sneak through places-- "when X mob has his back turned, run to Y point, quickly reapply here, continue on to Z"
