3 new expansions, Visions, Scars and Heroes of Abyssea
Re: 3 new expansions, Visions, Scars and Heroes of Abyssea
Regardless of whatever the OP had to say, I'd like to make this comment regarding the three Abyssea add-ons: they seemed to take pretty much every criticism of the previous three add-ons in the book in to consideration when designing these. They are all high-level battle-intensive add-ons, with new zones, new monsters, AF3 and everything . . .
And considering my own levels, I think it's safe for me to say that I will wait for Ultimate Collection 2 to be on sale before I get any of these (and heck, may as well postpone nabbing A Shantotto Ascension until then, as well). >.>

lol. I'm not even going to bother to pay for these until after FFXIV comes out. I would rather check out FFXIV before paying 30$ on some expansions, only to never play them due to FFXIV coming out, and me switching to it, if I decide to stay.
Re: 3 new expansions, Visions, Scars and Heroes of Abyssea
good idea. It seems they put more effort in these expansions this time, even if it's barely enough to keep people interested for another year.
But it's inevitable FFXIV will be grabbing all the attention with its new next-gen mmorpg graphics alone!
Though it's true it still has to prove it's better than FFXI in the majority of ways.
but if both FFXI and FFXIV are successful, that's a good thing too! Because it's kind of like FF1 and FFII, two different
flavors that are great in their own way.
Re: 3 new expansions, Visions, Scars and Heroes of Abyssea
I think these will be somewhat mediocre, but not terrible. I have a feeling that over the course of the next year, they're going to do many things wrong, and many things right. I'll have to save my judgment till they've started doing content updates. I have a feeling at the very least though, that these are going to be a lot better than the previous addons. I mean there will be actual new zones and endgame activities, etc.
Re: 3 new expansions, Visions, Scars and Heroes of Abyssea
3 Expansions, all with hinted connections to WotG.
Could Abyssea be endgame versions of Grauberg, Fort Karugo-Narugo and Vunkerl Inlet, I wonder. Those zones are sealed off in present day for still-unknown reasons and NPC dialogs were changed pre-WotG to talk about them. There has to be a story related reason for why these areas aren't accessible, but I've yet to see that reason.
And these add-ons are coming in three parts. They could attach other zones to them, too. There's also the three other "underground" campaign zones that could be recreated and used for present-day.
They could even be repurposed and use them as actual zones we could enter, rather than be BCNMs. I'd like to see some new zones, but bringing those zones to present day would also make some sense.

Most importantly, it's like assault; you can do these with just 6 people, they aren't time consuming and drops come easily if the wording is to be believed. Win-freaking-win.

Oh right, MMM did use those underground zone, they caved in. They are not stable.
Makes me curious how Jeuno stands on any of it.

I think it was more of a point that you could do it with six people, I didn't hear anything about it being like assault.
AF3 and endgame gear dropping like candy? Psh, yeah right.
Nyzul can be pretty stingy, and it's not much of a challenge either.
When I said "like assault" I meant that it's another low-man event that's short.

In Abyssea, concerns such as the over-population of battle areas and the need for large time investments will be a thing of the past. The development team is hard at work creating a world where parties can engage in rewarding battles with powerful foes and collect prized equipment with the least of fuss.

Not to rain on the parade... but that's just SqueeniX-speak... once that's been translated
"Thing of the past" ='s "still haunts us to this day"
"least of fuss" ='s "epic fuss"
"is" ='s "is not"
Call me jaded, negative, Debbie Downer, or w/e... I've just been Squeenixt too many times to not take everything SE says with the largest grain of salt I can possibly find.
